Fire crews from Huntley and surrounding departments were called to battle a two-alarm fire at a home in Harmony Friday afternoon.
The Huntley Fire Protection District was called at 3:30 p.m. to 11516 South Grant Highway in Harmony, which is located west of Huntley, for a report of a house fire. When emergency crews arrived, fire and smoke was showing from the rear of the home.
A 2nd alarm was called through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) which brought in numerous fire departments to help fight the fire.
Two residents escaped from the home before firefighters arrived. No residents or firefighters were injured in the fire.
Fire officials said that the fire was started after a resident had been trying to defrost frozen pipes with a torpedo heater. He tried to extinguish the fire with a garden hose but it started back up again.
Fire crews cleared the scene at 7 p.m.

At 11:15 PM on Friday, August 18, 2017, the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to a reported structure fire at 4001 Doty Road.
Upon arrival, the first arriving units reported an abandoned residential structure fire that was well involved.
There are no fire hydrants in this area, which prompted the activation of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) for additional water tenders, firefighters, and change of quarter’s companies.
The following communities provided assistance; Crystal Lake, Marengo, Hebron, Wonder Lake, Huntley, McHenry, Pingree Grove, Bloomfield, Union, Spring Grove, Harvard, Barrington Countryside, Richmond, Cary, Fox River Grove, and Algonquin
Firefighters remained on the scene until 2:30am checking for and extinguishing hidden fires.
The investigation is being conducted by Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. The dollar loss amount is undetermined at this time.

Hello, my beautiful friends. I am alive. Barely.
Okay, so we waited longer than we thought, and just ended up going in when they weren't there. So I'm going to give yah a little run down on last nights events.
-Well at about around ten, the guys left, and Dinah suggested we go in.
-We brought: flashlights, knives, pepper spray, fog horn (you think that's bad? Cassidy and Rebecca loaded the storage part of the bus with guns from the hunting ground. HUNTING NOT SHOOTING.)
-Hannah used a bobby pin to pop the lock off. They had no alarm system, so..you know.
-We loaded the bus down. Emptied all the soda machines, took about six coolers, nine bags of ice. Loads of Gatorade, Redbull, Monster, you name it.
-We put Maddie in charge of food rations. We have tons of breakfast foods: Honeybuns, Poptarts, Cinnamon Rolls, Fruit Bars, Granola Bars, small boxes of cereal.
As far as food goes, it had a decent amount of lunch meals. Cecile went to the back and found a ton of sandwiches in the back. Every girl got six, and put them in their bags. We have the rest in a storage unit with the "weapons" .
And tons of candy, bags of chips, everything. Kit Kats, Skittles, chocolate bars. We managed to find some cigarette lighters which will come in handy when we are need of some fire or something.
I, being so smart, (just kidding), took the Advil and Aspirin, and some other medicine. Band-aids. We found more flashlights, sunscreen, mosquito repellant. So yeah..
And aas for gas...we did really well.
Surely we can't leave without paying. We left all the alcohol in the store and left about two grand in the register.
We are driving down roads like these. SO yeah, its hard.

Here are my photos from the Phoenix Fan Fusion and Blue Ribbon Army’s “Rocket's Rad 80's Party- 2.0.” As you might recall, the original 80’s party, the proceeds of which benefited KNTR, was canceled during Phoenix Comic Fest due to the malfunctioning fire alarm system in the convention center. Well, at the Rocket's Rad 80's Party-2.0 KNTR was presented a check for $7,500 from the Arizona Lottery! That donation combined with donations online and at the party totaled over $10k for Kids Need to Read. We are so grateful for everyone who contributed: Square Egg Entertainment (Phoenix Fan Fusion), Blue Ribbon Army, Arizona Lottery, Phoenix Convention Center, The Park, Noah's Arcade, Ash10 Nicole, Heroes United AZ, and all the people who contributed online or in person and came to dance the night away!

Occasionally there would be diversions to Cadiz or Vigo and then Rotterdam or Dublin before making for the Thames and around 17 days leave.

On March 18, 2019 at 2:54 pm, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded for a structure fire at 6207 Commercial Rd in Crystal Lake. Initial arriving crews, at 2:58 pm, reported heavy black smoke coming from the business (Diesel Redemption). The caller had reported the business was working with a cutting torch and the building was now on fire. Fire units quickly switched to a defensive mode, operating from the outside of the building by applying water through various hoses and three ladder trucks. There were no injuries to the occupants or firefighters.
Mutual aid agencies were called to assist Crystal Lake utilizing the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS). Crystal Lake Command requested a third alarm.
A firewall in the center of the structure held the fire from spreading throughout the entire building. The building did not have fire sprinklers. A roof collapse and partial wall collapse were sustained in the area of the building where the fire started.
The fire was deemed under control at 4:19 pm. Crews remain on scene extinguishing hot spots. Fire investigators from Crystal Lake and surrounding communities, including the Office of the State Fire Marshal, are investigating the cause of the fire. A damage estimate is not yet available.

At 11:15 PM on Friday, August 18, 2017, the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to a reported structure fire at 4001 Doty Road.
Upon arrival, the first arriving units reported an abandoned residential structure fire that was well involved.
There are no fire hydrants in this area, which prompted the activation of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) for additional water tenders, firefighters, and change of quarter’s companies.
The following communities provided assistance; Crystal Lake, Marengo, Hebron, Wonder Lake, Huntley, McHenry, Pingree Grove, Bloomfield, Union, Spring Grove, Harvard, Barrington Countryside, Richmond, Cary, Fox River Grove, and Algonquin
Firefighters remained on the scene until 2:30am checking for and extinguishing hidden fires.
The investigation is being conducted by Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. The dollar loss amount is undetermined at this time.

A neighbor helped evacuate a woman inside her burning home before firefighters arrived in Crystal Lake Friday evening, fire officials said.
The Crystal Lake Fire/Rescue Department was called at 8:39 p.m. Friday to the 200 block of West Woodstock Street for a reported structure fire.
Fire officials said that a woman was inside the home at the time the fire started but a neighbor notified the woman, who was able to escape safely before firefighters arrived.
Fire crews arrived at the scene five minutes after being dispatched and found smoke and flames coming from the second floor and roof of the single-family home. The fire was elevated to a second alarm through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS), which brought numerous neighboring fire departments to the scene.
“The crews attempted to make entry, but quickly retreated from the building as the entire attic area was involved in fire,” fire officials said.
Firefighters worked from the outside of the building to apply water to the attic and the fire was deemed under control at 9:58 p.m. No injuries to the occupants or firefighters were reported.
Extensive damage to the roof, attic and second floor was reported. The home is uninhabitable due to structural damage from the fire and water. Damage was estimated at $125,000, fire officials said.
Investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Quicker than a hummingbird, more slippery than a greased eel, and as sharp as a hornet's sting, Slipknot has finagled her way out of many a tight scrape.
