Ajax is almost 11 months old and weighs 15 pounds. I have no idea what sort of cat he is as he just turned up at the age of 5 weeks on my back steps being chased by a huge tomcat. He rarely meows, but chirps, trills, and chatters. He has incredibly soft, smooth fur except along the ridge of his spine where it's longer and very coarse.

Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM)
Beginning in the early 1950s Cold War era, concerns about Soviet nuclear-armed bombers created the need for basing surface-to-air missiles near U.S. military installations. Built for the U.S. Army by Western Electric and initially deployed in 1953, the Nike-Ajax missile was a vital part of this type of localized defensive perimeter which had been installed around the country.
There were several Nike sites on the Peninsula. There are two Nike-Ajax liquid-fueled, upper stage rockets on display here in the park, flanking the entrance. With a range of thirty miles, these missiles could carry either a nuclear or conventional warhead.

I was able to take a quick look at the Renkoo beta today. So far, it looks very cool, but the technology behind it is even "cooler." They're using lots and lots of DHTML, AJAX, and Comet to power the site.

HMS Ajax, was laid down in 1807, and launched in 1809. The ship saw action in both the Napoleonic and Crimean Wars, before ending its days as a coastguard vessel - it was finally broken up in 1864.

HMS Bulldog, launched in 1845, was a wooden paddle sloop that served in the Mediterranean, then North America. In 1865, the ship was grounded during an attack on Haiti - unable to release her, the ship was blown up.
