Geeta Sarabhai Mayor and her husband, Satyadev Mayor, were good friends and neighbors in Alkapuri, Baroda. This photo of Geeta is from Ahmedabad or, possibly, New York.
This was Gandhi’s home in the Ashram. Kakasaheb Kalelkar named it Hriday Kunj. Like the heart in a body, this centrally located abode supplied energy to the entire place. Gandhi lived here from 1918 to 1930 and it was while living here that Mohandas Gandhi came to be known as Mahatma Gandhi. Here he met national and international personalities. He left the Ashram in 1930 with a vow- “not to return to this Ashram till India became independent”. Inside there are 4 rooms: Gandhi’s; Kasturba’s; Guest and Kitchen. There are also replicas (and some originals) of Gandhi’s possessions
The Mosque of Ahmed Shah I, who founded Ahmedabad in 1412, is the oldest one in the city, having been built in 1414. This photograph is of the porch at the north end of the mosque; I believe it gave access to the private gallery for royal princesses. As can be seen, it has an exquisitely carved stone screen.

Acutally the owner was shy.
I'd like to take some photos of his sign boards, he agreed. And a friendly old man kept encouraging me to take his photo. Usually I am just too shy to take photos of people.
The Jama Masjid of Ahmedabad was probably the largest mosque in the Indian subcontinent built in this period. Designed as part of a major plan desired by the Emperor Sultan Ahmed Shah. The wide open courtyard, floored with white marble, is ringed by a colonade painted with giant Arabic calligraphy, and has a tank for ritual ablutions in the center. The mosque and arcades are built of beautiful yellow sandstone and carved with the intricate detail that mosques of this period are known for
