Okay, okay...enough with the turtles already. I agree, but couldn't resist a last glance at the team taking a time-out ensconced on an uprooted lily pad. This is the last, I almost promise.

Turtles have always been my favorite animal. I still clearly remember my very first composition in early grammar school with my drawing of this very species sunning on a log on the cover. I've never lost the attraction and it remains a joy to see so many here.

Some may wonder as to why I didn't crop much of the right side, but the starting lineup always gets all the attention and I felt guilty about cutting the last guy on the bench, so he made the team photo. You may have to click large to see him.

The mono version of the image I posted a day or two ago. I agree - the mono works better. Thank you Dave Feaster.

Said to be the most colorful lake on the AlCan Highway. Must agree, it was a brilliant teal green, especially when the sun broke thru the clouds.

I liked the dual reflections, skies and land.

"The jade green color of the lake is attributed to the presence of copper oxide leached from the bedrock underneath. Its name is derived from the Kaska language in which "muncho" translates as "big water."

Some have suggested it was named by camping hippies.....who got hungry......

Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start!

Someone told me that the sunrises in Fuerteventura are stunning. Ok, after this one, taken in the Sand dunes of Coralejo, I must totally agree. Shot during the #fuertexperience2017 in Fuerteventura with the @shutterguild with an Irix 11mm f/4 courtesy of @irixlens

Wonderful Model MalyJ agreed to collaborate with me on my Harley Cowgirl Shoot March 29. She deserves a lot of credit for getting up early on a Sunday and braving the cold and windy day.

I agree I got carried away with the associations I had during experimenting with different screws, light sources and backgrounds (most of the images won't be seen here).

It was fun using the new light tape (it can be switched to different colours) that my husband brought home for (especially) macro work.

The four screws here were placed on a shiny plastic bag for reflections plus one on top. There are black cards in the background to darken the scene.

Hi all! Tory King was swallowed whole by real life. This month's STUNNING cover photo was taken by our amazing freelance photographer Teej (Timaaj) of the gorgeous photographer and blogger, Dae Fangs. I've been stalking her photography for years and we've been talking about featuring her all year long. We hit the jackpot when fluent Italian/English speaker Katina Cazalet agreed to translate English into Italian and vice versa. This month, the planets aligned and I could not be more proud of the entire issue.

We release on Sunday, 4 October 2020.

Out in a local valley looking at the snow covered hills with the cattle feeding on newly placed hay, the lightly covering of snow and magical clouds caused a long look at natures beauty. Finally turned off the rumbling engine and listened to the silence before walking around for the best shot that would depict what was seen. A lonely ranch with just one occupant in a valley with the nearest neighbor miles away, cattle silently eating with snow covered hills in the backdrop and a beautiful misty playful sky. The only occupant stated the beauty and silence made up for the isolation. Would tend to agree…………

They say travelling is better than reading a book and I fully agree with this notion. This picture was taken on our train journey from Jungfrau(the Highest Point in entire Europe) in Switzerland. Was lucky to find a spot on the train where I could lower the windows and click as much as I could. Simply breathtaking views!

I love these places. They have a special magic all of their own.

Im sure you agree.

The title comes from Patrick Kavanagh`s wonderful poem "On Raglan Road"

Along the enchanted way,

And I said let grief, be a fallen leaf,

At the dawning of the day "

Yes, that was my attempt at haiku. This is a blast from the past of the Cowra Japanese Garden.

I’m doing yet another round of culling my photography archives — the third deep dive in as many years (clearly a slow process). I first posted a version of this shot back when I’d just picked up a camera and joined Flickr. Also when I was overenthusiastically experimenting with that classic fake HDR look. This is a refreshed take with a lighter hand on the sliders, still a combination of 3 bracketed exposures.

The gardens are located in the town of Cowra in the Central West region of NSW, Australia. The gardens were created to honour the historical and ongoing relationship between the people of Cowra and Japan — and the story behind it is surprisingly moving.

In 1960, the Japanese government decided to bring the remains of their war dead from around Australia to be reburied in Cowra, which already housed a cemetery for 231 Japanese soldiers killed during the 1944 Cowra breakout - a dramatic and tragic chapter involving a nearby prisoner-of-war camp. After the war, the Cowra RSL took on the respectful maintenance of the cemetery, which was formally ceded to Japan in 1963. In 1971, Cowra Tourism proposed the idea of a Japanese garden to acknowledge this connection, and Japan agreed to support it, as a gesture of appreciation for the town’s care of their fallen soldiers. It’s a nice outcome I think, for something rooted in war - a story worth reading if you’re into history.

The gardens themselves are a little pocket of Japan tucked into the dry, sunburnt hills of inland NSW. Think: manicured hedges, waterfalls, rocky slopes, peaceful lakes, and the occasional waterbird. There’s also a traditional Edo cottage, an open-air tea house (& you can get Japanese sweets), and a bonsai house (I've always loved Bonsai, don't have the patience to grow one though).

Hard to believe this peaceful garden is in regional NSW - we’re hoping to explore the real thing in Japan next year.

Have a great week out there. Thanks for any comments and likes, they are all appreciated!

This is the dress that I received from Miss Aniela, with a close up of it (and for more detail) in comments. It is the dress from this shot of hers, which is coincidentally my all time favorite of hers. Thank you again!!

I went to an old western town to get this shot...there were a bunch of tourists taking my picture from afar, videotaping me and whatnot. I think they thought I was part of a show or something, I certainly looked the part. It was cute :) I'm just glad no one asked any questions as I was flinging myself against the wall.

Baa-rilliant news! These two woolly wonders kindly agreed to pose for a quick snap. At first, they were a bit sheepish, but they finally stopped bleating about it and gave me their best looks. One even whispered, “Ewe better not tag me in this—I’m on the lam!” I told her to stop pulling the wool over my eyes.

I found them at my favorite alpaca farm, looking a little out of place. When I asked what they were doing there, they sighed and said, “We just needed a change of shear-nery.” They also grumbled about feeling old, but I assured them, “You’re not pasture prime!”

Anyway, I’ll stop ram-ewe-bling. Hope this picture makes ewe smile, well at least before the narrative makes you groan! 🐏🐏

If the weather is good we always find a place to go for a hike. Mostly in the nature.

Quand la météo est agréable, nous partons marcher -la plupart du temps sur des sentiers ...

I politelly asked Teifi who becomes 11 years old around these days to pose for a picture something he hates doing but today he agreed

Sick and tired of snakes, election year politics, Covid, and wild fire concerns, Kenzie the pup and I decided to take a ride over to the Middle Fork and relax along the river. The river is quiet at this time of year before the rains swell it into a raging fury. The water flows smooth and the reflections of the many rocks are pure magic. We hiked up river for a spell and saw nary a human. We both agreed that this was a great way to spend a morning--a man and his dog enjoying the gifts of nature.

Since it is preferable to stay at home in these times of pandemic and that in anyway the roads are closed to leave the region, might as well to take advantage of that time to clean up older photos and files them and god know that there a lot ... It's also nice to take advantage of the arrival of some migrants in the area.

Today, April 21, a good amount of wet snow and a very nice group of visiter. They are so fierce these Wood Ducks that I stay in the bad weather for several hours to take this photo. I would have liked a close-up but not today... So I decided to try a group portrait, here it is.

Far from the comfort of roaring fires and warm spirits. You've been taken, against your will to my frozen home.
