DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd's class 66 (JT42CWR) number 66101 in Deutsche Bahn cherry red with DB Schenker branding is photographed working 6Z20 hauling 9 empty bogie box wagons from Wembley European Freight Operations Centre to Lydd Town on 10 February 2015. It was also photographed by Edward Clarkson later on route passing Paddock Wood and by Christopher Livings near Lydd. This service was a trail run on behalf of Brett Aggregates Limited and if successful would mitigate the traffic/transport implications such as lorry movements on unsuitable residential roads, so overcoming some of the local residents objections to the expansion of sand and gravel extraction at Lydd Quarry. Kent County Council suggest that the additional 1.6 million tonnes of land-won aggregate material to be extracted over the next 7 years will be used as construction material in south and east Kent.

Other concerns and objections to the expansion of Lydd Quarry have been raised by Kent Wildlife Trust, Natural England, the Environment Agency, RSPB, Southern Water, members of Lydd Town Council, Shepway District Council and local residents. Despite these expansion of Lydd Quarry remains one of Kent County Councils preferred options for mineral extraction within the county.

According to Matthew Brown numbers of the bogie box wagons were KEA VTG 3207, KEA VTG 3237, KEA VTG 3236, KEA VTG 3166, KEA VTG 3195, KEA VTG 3214, KEA VTG 3194, KEA VTG 3216 and KEA VTG 3199.

66101 (works number 968702-101) was built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division, London, Ontario, Canada in 1998 and unloaded from the Heavy Lift Ship MV "Stellanova" at Newport Docks on 24 April 1999.

Summer means limestone and aggregate traffic increase on the Lake State Railway. LSRC has done a good job growing their on-line traffic, leading to a need for more rail cars. On this cool September morning, there was a big cut of these rock hoppers on the Y126 turn bringing these cars south from Bay City to Saginaw.

LSRC 8005 is an open-top aggregate hopper that used to run in rock service in Texas for the Western Rail Road Co (a shortline connecting to the UP in Dittlinger, TX).

New flats at East Greenwich/Charlton being built right next the aggregate works.A nice outlook for residents.

I arrived very early to photograph this move out of Tinsley Yard, as the signalling on the track diagram, which usually shows it parked up on the Broughton Lane bank at Woodburn's signal W0209, indicated very soon that it had already moved off and was, at around 10:00, at Woodburn Junction's signal W0213, and ready for the off! Making a 'speedy' run south with green's all the way, just about, I arrived to find the loco still at W0213, with its engine running quietly and it was clear it was going to wait time for its own run south, at the normal time of around 11:00.. Adrian turned up shortly after I did and so we began out catch-up phase and I received my copy of his 'New Stubbin' book. It may well be there has been a change in the working and the empty set of HYA aggregate hoppers are going to wait time at Woodburn rather than Broughton Lane; something worth noting. Hauled by the regular GBRf class 66 type of locomotive, this one 66755, 'Tony Berkeley OBE, RFG Chairman 1997-2018' had come up early with its usual heavy load from Bardon Hill on the 6E97 move and today was on-time, unlike yesterday when it was 3 hours late due to a signalling problem south of Bradway Tunnel, at Dronfield. Today's return, having left the Yard an hour early, and come straight along to here, now waited time for the pat south on the 6M83, Tinsley Yard(GBRf) to Bardon Hill move with its 19 empty HYA Aggregate hoppers. The lighting conditions were just right and all the shots turned out very well with new ballast, new track installed with a new set of points as well.. A video of the action follows at the end.

The beginning of a hopefully long life for these three palm trees and associated bushes!

The term "collective memory" denotes the aggregate of memories, knowledge, and data that a social group holds, which is intrinsically linked to the group's identity. The term "collective memory" in English and its French counterpart "la mémoire collective" emerged in the latter half of the 19th century. Maurice Halbwachs, a philosopher and sociologist, further developed this concept in his 1925 work, «Les cadres sociaux de la mémoire». Both expansive and intimate social collectives can create, disseminate, and inherit collective memory.

Contrary to the term "collective memory," which is somewhat ambiguously defined yet generally accepted, the notion of "collective memories" is inherently problematic. Memories are the results of the individual acts of recollection, making the idea of "collective memories" paradoxical. Сontemporary diffusion models utilize vast amounts of often unidentified data, including historical and personal old photographs, vintage postcards, and other kinds of publicly circulating images. These models may be seen as involved in the prompts-driven singular acts of remembrance, producing images that paradoxically represent "collective memories," something otherwise unfeasible and ultimately, non-existent.
