Affirmation #74 - November 24th, 2010
While driving down to Atlanta today I was all set to put this as my affirmation, but when I had to drive another 45 minutes shortly after getting here, I had second thoughts. But yes, long drives are pretty good, even when you're by yourself and slowly going insane. I love the anticipation and the chance to think, to decompress, to not be bothered to do anything more productive. My drive from Athens to Atlanta gave me a ton of time to process these brewing ideas I want to pursue when I return and I returned to some older ideas with better ways to resolve/integrate form, texture, style, and structure. So yeah, hooray for driving. And the caffeine certainly helps!
Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg’s Induction into the Teaching Profession Ceremony showcased the heart of the education program’s mission of preparing educators who are ready to lead, inspire, and transform classrooms from day one. The celebration opened with affirmation that these graduates are stepping into the profession equipped with “critical thinking… problem solving… and communication skills” drawn from a rigorous, real world Bloomsburg education.
Keynote speaker Jeremy Winn, superintendent of Shikellamy School District and proud Bloomsburg alumnus, delivered a compelling call to action rooted in the unforgettable story of Mrs. Thompson and Teddy Stoddard. His message was clear — great teachers don’t just deliver content — they change lives by seeing potential where others see obstacles.
“Be the person who notices. Be the person who cares,” he urged.
His Grace Bishop Apostolos Officiated the Divine Liturgy at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church in Holmdel, NJ on Meatfare Sunday February 27th, 2022. At the end of the Service His Grace gave the affirmation oath to the newly elected Board Members of the Hellenic Federation of NJ.
