This elegant ae’o feeds on fish, arthropods, and various invertebrates in shallow shoreline ponds and wetlands. Though frequently seen in the main Hawaiian archipelago, ae’o, the Hawaiian stilt, is listed as endangered due to loss of habitat and predation by introduced species. A non-migratory, endemic subspecies of the black neck stilt, it has the second longest legs (after flamingos) relative to body size among birds.

One of my railfan targets for a trip to the Pacific Northwest was to catch up to the Albany & Eastern Hauler that makes a turn to Albany. The line isn't much for scenery and most of the trip is sun-angle challenged as they run southeast in the late morning. But at least the single engine faces east and has nice paint. This is leaving the Portland & Western yard in Albany where the track is still mostly north-south.

Kay had to be in Glasgow for a day (work related) and since we were having such fine weather, I tagged along and we took the bikes to ride one of the 7 Stanes. Ae forest was chosen. Great trail system, and we happened across this fella at the top of a section called Omega Man.
Goblins have long been associated with the orcish clans of Europe and Asia due to their often being able to find good customers among the clans. There has only been one goblin nation or kingdom in recorded history, the short lived Forsaleickstan. The nation was formed by goblin squatters covering a large region in eastern Europe that contained several disputed areas that had been a source of contention between local elven noble houses. Rather than waste manpower and possibly lives in an actual war, the goblin King Georgio 'Betta have my money' Greedyfingers, suggested a bidding war over the territories. The winning house would receive a 'legal' deed to the lands won and, perhaps more importantly, the goblins would leave to settle elsewhere. The plot was so ridiculous it actually worked, making Greedyfingers and his followers rich beyond their wildest imaginations and goblins have very wild imaginations, especially when it comes to money.
