Popularly known as Arthurian sorceress, benevolent fairy, priestess, dark magician, enchantress, witch, sea goddess, shape-changer, healer, and the sole personage of Avalon the Isle of Apples, not to mention daughter of Ygerna (Igraine) and Gorlois, half-sister to King Arthur, mother of Mordred, lady-in-waiting to Guinevere, wife of Uriens, lover of Sir Accolon, fancier of Sir Lancelot, and 'as fair a lady as any might be'.

In Celtic terms, Morgan (or Morcant) is a man's name. The feminine version is more correctly Morgain (or Morgue or Morgne). She is also named after/for the Morrigan of Irish mythology. According to Celtic tradition the Morrigan (a Triple Goddess of Celtic myth, thought of as the Goddess of Death) flew over battles, shrieking like ravens and claiming dead soldiers' heads as trophies.

By Madison Cawein (1865-1914)

In dim samite was she bedight,

And on her hair a hoop of gold,

Like foxfire, in the tawn moonlight,

Was glimmering cold.

For all her looks were full of spells,

And all her words, of sorcery;

And in some way they seemed to say,

"Oh, come with me!

"Oh, come with me! oh, come with me!

Oh, come with me, my love, Sir Kay!"--

How should he know the witch, I trow,

Morgan le Fay?

How should he know the wily witch,

With sweet white face and raven hair?

Who, through her art, bewitched his heart

And held him there.

Eftsoons his soul had waxed amort

To wold and weald, to slade and stream;

And all he heard was her soft word

As one adream.

And all he saw was her bright eyes,

And her fair face that held him still:

And wild and wan she led him on

O'er vale and hill.

Until at last a castle lay

Beneath the moon, among the trees:

Its gothic towers old and gray

With mysteries.

This is Abbey Street in Chester England.

Under the street name there is a plate that says "unadopted". I had seen and shot this street last year when I was at Clairey's. I asked her if we could go back...something here caught me. As we walked down the street, right at the end of the wall on left I found a beautiful house that was empty....oh, I wish!! Tim said he would help me fix it up.

Ahhh to dream!

Love u guys, and Tim...those extra 20 are still with me! lol

Be well my friends

;0}

My friend Gaz Holt from Doncaster has organised this meet for the Backpacker's Club over the weekend of 13th.-14th. April 2012, this is our rendevous point at the Snake Pass Inn and six tents were pitched on this bit of adjacent land by the Inn car-park, that's my tent closest to camera , its not a camp-site in the proper sense of the world but we get access to the Inn toilet facilities from 8.30am in the morning. The Inn is midway on the north-west line of the A57 linking Sheffield with Glossop. To our west lies Black Ashop Moor with the Derbyshire County high-point of Kinder Scout, and the famous land of the mass trespass of 1932 fame. And the Kinder Downfall, which in a good winter gives Derbyshire climbers a scarce opportunity to climb a bit of ice. It gets busy and frankly, hardly worth the effort of the walk-in. (But of course that never held us back).

I know the continuity is nebulous but indulge me; I like this kind of connection:

SNAKE (Part)

He drank enough

And lifted his head, dreamily, as one who has drunken,

And flickered his tongue like a forked night on the air, so black,

Seeming to lick his lips,

And looked around like a god, unseeing into the air,

And slowly turning his head,

And slowly, very slowly, as if thrice adream,

Proceed to draw his slow length curving round

And climb again the broken bank of my wall-face.

And as he put his head into that dreadful hole,

And as he slowly drew up, snake-easing his shoulders, and

entered further,

A sort of horror, a sort of protest against his withdrawing into

that horrid black hole.

D.H.Lawrence 1885-1929.

Time to pop into The Snake for a bit of a drink, methink...

...since I was a kid to drive one of these.

Or not just drive, to shovel and move things around.

To "create", perhaps.

So another collaboration piece here people. Before you all start "oooing and ahhhhing" this is not my photo. Well, the main part is not. Look closely though. Who do you see hanging out on the street here in NYC? yup, that's me. See, as badly as I hope to get to see Scout in NM, I also want to see Flooz in NYC. It's a dream for now. But we both know it's gonna happen one day. Maybe not soon, but one day. :)

Flooz gets all the credit here people. All I did was go out on my lunch hour in snowy, miserable Michigan, sent her my pics of posing in front of random buildings, and THIS is what she came up with. The best? Yes. Thanks Floozy. Wish I was there for real.

Rich in the waning light she sat

While the fierce rain on the window spat.

The yellow lamp-glow lit her face,

Shadows cloaked the narrow place

She sat adream in. Then she'd look

Idly upon an idle book;

Anon would rise and musing peer

Out at the misty street and drear;

Or with her loosened dark hair play,

Hiding her fingers' snow away;

And, singing softly, would sing on

When the desire of song had gone.

"O lingering day!" her bosom sighed,

"O laggard Time!" each motion cried.

Last she took the lamp and stood

Rich in its flood,

And looked and looked again at what

Her longing fingers' zeal had wrought;

And turning then did nothing say,

Hiding her thoughts away.

Aubrey Loots and Danny Leclair, a gay couple from Los Angeles together over a decade, prepare to marry during the 125th Rose Parade on AIDS Healthcare Foundation's third annual float entry "Living the Dream" in Pasadena, Calif., Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.

AHF float invokes the 2014 theme: âDreams Come True,â with Loots and Leclair âLiving the Dreamâ as they legally marry and proclaim

with AHF that âLove is the Best Protection,â recognizing the role marriage can play in reducing HIV infections among gay men. (Eric Reed /AP Images for AIDS Healthcare Foundation)

A wonderful light, late afternoon

To jump! Leaving one’s shadow on the floor

Like Peter did, and never to recede,

Sailing to Neverland, drifting ashore

Wide open wings our arms, our spirit freed.

In dreams, we always fly. I breaststroke fly

Floating across the air in swimming kicks:

I jump and find myself up in the sky.

Following clouds and resting in time’s nicks

I do not grow up: I look up and down

Staring at faces and at shrivelled skins.

Sometimes I shudder with the saddest frown

To my own image that is not my twin.

My shadow lies across the floor: a thimble and a thread

Are in my hand to stitch it up. I think I’ll fly instead.

The Angel was so tall (almost 10 feet)

No halo I saw, nor wings, his legs astride

As he stood on the side of a dark street

Spotting the cars go by. On the concrete

His shadow reached the opposite roadside:

The Angel was so tall (almost 10 feet)

Entirely dressed in jeans. Despite the sleet

His hair was dry (a pale gold, oxide dyed)

As he stood on the side of a dark street.

His stocky build made him a good athlete

And he could jump the town in a joyride.

The Angel was so tall (almost 10 feet)

And then he was no more. A lightning sheet

Destroyed his form, my eyes still open wide

As he stood on the side of a dark street.

I stopped the car. A trick? Almost a treat

To see an Angel standing. Then he flied.

The Angel was so tall (almost 10 feet)

As he stood on the side of a dark street.

Snake by D.H. Lawrence

A snake came to my water-trough

On a hot, hot day, and I in pyjamas for the heat,

To drink there.

In the deep, strange-scented shade of the great dark carob-tree

I came down the steps with my pitcher

And must wait, must stand and wait, for there he was at the trough before

me.

He reached down from a fissure in the earth-wall in the gloom

And trailed his yellow-brown slackness soft-bellied down, over the edge of

the stone trough

And rested his throat upon the stone bottom,

i o And where the water had dripped from the tap, in a small clearness,

He sipped with his straight mouth,

Softly drank through his straight gums, into his slack long body,

Silently.

Someone was before me at my water-trough,

And I, like a second comer, waiting.

He lifted his head from his drinking, as cattle do,

And looked at me vaguely, as drinking cattle do,

And flickered his two-forked tongue from his lips, and mused a moment,

And stooped and drank a little more,

Being earth-brown, earth-golden from the burning bowels of the earth

On the day of Sicilian July, with Etna smoking.

The voice of my education said to me

He must be killed,

For in Sicily the black, black snakes are innocent, the gold are venomous.

And voices in me said, If you were a man

You would take a stick and break him now, and finish him off.

But must I confess how I liked him,

How glad I was he had come like a guest in quiet, to drink at my water-trough

And depart peaceful, pacified, and thankless,

Into the burning bowels of this earth?

Was it cowardice, that I dared not kill him? Was it perversity, that I longed to talk to him? Was it humility, to feel so honoured?

I felt so honoured.

And yet those voices:

If you were not afraid, you would kill him!

And truly I was afraid, I was most afraid, But even so, honoured still more

That he should seek my hospitality

From out the dark door of the secret earth.

He drank enough

And lifted his head, dreamily, as one who has drunken,

And flickered his tongue like a forked night on the air, so black,

Seeming to lick his lips,

And looked around like a god, unseeing, into the air,

And slowly turned his head,

And slowly, very slowly, as if thrice adream,

Proceeded to draw his slow length curving round

And climb again the broken bank of my wall-face.

And as he put his head into that dreadful hole,

And as he slowly drew up, snake-easing his shoulders, and entered farther,

A sort of horror, a sort of protest against his withdrawing into that horrid black hole,

Deliberately going into the blackness, and slowly drawing himself after,

Overcame me now his back was turned.

I looked round, I put down my pitcher,

I picked up a clumsy log

And threw it at the water-trough with a clatter.

I think it did not hit him,

But suddenly that part of him that was left behind convulsed in undignified haste.

Writhed like lightning, and was gone

Into the black hole, the earth-lipped fissure in the wall-front,

At which, in the intense still noon, I stared with fascination.

And immediately I regretted it.

I thought how paltry, how vulgar, what a mean act!

I despised myself and the voices of my accursed human education.

And I thought of the albatross

And I wished he would come back, my snake.

For he seemed to me again like a king,

Like a king in exile, uncrowned in the underworld,

Now due to be crowned again.

And so, I missed my chance with one of the lords

Of life.

And I have something to expiate:

A pettiness.

This is an idea I have for a website. I don't have the time or resources to make it happen but I am interested in providing a boutique style experience for designers and artists to get supplies and find new ones at a reasonable price. If you are interested in working on something like this please let me know. Oh yeah and please don't steal my idea =)

The Whisky Exchange Show. It doesnât really need any goddamned intro but Iâm gonna give you one anyway. A three day whisky mecca, this year held at Old Billingsgate near Monument, TWE Show is THE place to be if you take your drams seriously. And if you have some cash weighing your wallet down/the need to consume spirits that probably cost a lot more than they should (or both).

On offer? Masterclasses (you pay for some of these) on things related the subject of whisky - i.e âthe science of whiskyâ, cigar and whisky pairings, Laphroaigâs â200 years of peatâ and a tasting of the eyewateringly dear (yet fucking amazing) Mortlach 75yo âGenerationsâ. Also food pairings - Ibericos de Huelva, matching up delicious Jamon Iberico with ALL THE DRAMS, something called âThe Chocolate Experienceâ (and that does much the same thing), and La Fromagerie - that deli that specialises in cheese, also matching up said cheese with all the drams. Or some of the drams. Also whisky cocktails provided by Fentimans and Mixology Group (also free!)

As for exhibitors - ALL the distilleries you know and love (not one is missing, this I am sure of). Plus a few you might not have heard of (so for me, I discovered a few more, such as Armorik, Green Spot, Jack Ryan, etc etc). Also of note, running into the legendary Richard Paterson (the guy who came up with all of Dalmoreâs ridiculous stuff), and food at the Show Brasserie (meal included as part of your ticket). The brasserie serves 'whisky relevantâ foods. We got to try 'Navarin Of Lamb': slowcooked navarin of lamb, infused with Dewarâs 12 Year Old, and served with roasted carrots and parsnips. And a steamed chocolate pudding served with Singleton Tailfure custard (hnnnnnng).

And I cannot - forget to mention TWE's âdream dramsâ - of which I got a shot at the following: John Walker And Sons Private Collection 2015 (ultra fruity JOY JUICE), Laphroaig 32 (immaculate peat smoke and angel tears) and Brora 35 Year Old (honey marmalade perpetual mouth nirvana).

Between the windmill and the pond lies an amazing custom home that will be your own private resort! This home is on the first lot sold in Sweetwater so it is a prime lot for sure! Nearly every area has a vista view of the pond and wooded addition. Built as a âdream homeâ it features amenities and upgrades galore. Study includes a built-in desk/credenza and a cast-stone fireplace. The formal dining has a built-in hutch. The entry has a view of the formal living room and its balcony overlooking the pond. There is an open kitchen, breakfast and family room. Thermidor appliances in the kitchen. There is 1911 sq ft of unfinished basement offering great storage and/or shop. It is plumbed for adding another bathroom if desired. Thereâs also a large safe room in the basement. In back is a covered patio with outdoor fireplace and balcony above. The foam insulation provides very low utility bills.

Truly an amazing day, there really are no wordsâ¦.

On offer? Actors and close friends Patrick Fischler ("Mad Men") and Lauren Bowles ("True Blood") pose with Danny Leclair and Aubrey Loots, a gay couple from Los Angeles together over a decade, ahead of their New Years Day wedding on AIDS Healthcare Foundation's third annual float entry, "Living the Dream," the 125th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif., Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.

© Liza Ray

Another picture thats a favorite of mine. I see this, and I can immediately smell the hot metal, and the smell of warm engine oil. I can smell the old upholstery of the interior of the Cessna, and I can feel the texture of the control wheel under my hand. I hear the power of the engine, and I can imagine whats going inside...the pistons moving up and down, connecting rods, and spark plugs, in a dance of timing perfection. The airplane finally lifts-off this field, and I fly into the big blue sky.

Janine and Leone Fabre crossing the line - at The Arctic Circle!

The red carpet (complete with dots) was placed there by our tour guide ........ well we had to have something to "cross over" !!!

... and from Wikipedia.....

The Arctic Circle is one of the five major circles of latitude that mark maps of the Earth. It is the parallel of latitude that (as of 2000) runs 66° 33′ 39″ (or 66.56083°) north of the Equator. The region north of this circle is known as the Arctic, and the zone just to the south is called the Northern Temperate Zone. The equivalent latitude in the Southern Hemisphere is called the Antarctic Circle.

The Arctic Circle marks the southern extremity of the polar day (24 hour sunlit day, often referred to as the "midnight sun") and polar night (24 hour sunless night). North of the Arctic Circle, the sun is above the horizon for 24 continuous hours at least once per year, and below the horizon for 24 continuous hours at least once per year. On the Arctic Circle these events occur, in principle, exactly once per year, at the June and December solstices respectively.

In fact, because of atmospheric refraction and because the sun appears as a disk and not a point, part of the midnight sun may be seen on the night of the summer solstice up to about 50′ (90 km) south of the Arctic Circle; similarly, on the day of the winter solstice part of the sun may be seen up to about 50′north of the Arctic Circle. This is true at sea level; these limits increase with elevation above sea level, although in mountainous regions there is often no direct view of the horizon.

The position of the Arctic Circle is not fixed, but varies in a complex manner over time.
