This is probably my favorite fitness/active lifestyle image that I've made. Ryan set up a shoot with me for the day after the Warrior Classic and since we'd already done a gym shoot together, decided that we'd get outside for some active lifestyle shots. When we showed up at the location, it began pouring rain! It was going off and on for about an hour - so we were jumping out of the car and setting up the lights as fast as we could and firing off a few shots before running back to the car when the rain began to fall again. It was a bit frustrating and stressful, but I'm very glad we stuck it out because we got this image out of it!

Here is a highly compressed view deep into the Barron River Canyon in Algonquin Provincial Park of Ontario, Canada. It is a favorite spot of canoers (for obvious reasons). The tiny speck on the water in the canoe (and that is at 200mm!!) The river runs hundreds of feet beneath the cliffside on either side, creating a bit of a lighting challenge for the photographer. I used multiple exposures to balance the lighting, then converted to monochrome and gave the image a "Mocha" tint.
Technical info: Canon EOS 5D Mark 2, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS, 3 exposures fused in Photomatix Pro, Processed and toned in Adobe Lightroom 4, and Adobe Photoshop CS5

Shutterstock you better catch up. Shutterstock has a limit of 30 meg per jpg. I shoot a d800 which means I had to downsize the image in order for shutter stock to accept it. Never had to down size an image in order for it to be sold for stock before. Kind of a pain really and certainly counter intuitive. Afterall, if you are a stock agency, why wouldn't you want to offer the highest resolution of the image available.
The Colorado river over the years had deposited sand at the bottom of the grand canyon which is where I shot this image.
Definitely best viewed large :)
This is a self portrait I did while on an 8 mile hike last week near James Peak. I loaded my pack up with all of my photo gear (the Sunpak 622 Pros are not very small flashes) and it ended up weighing about 50lbs... so it was definitely a good training hike!
This is an off-trail view looking down on Loch Lomond (right), Stuart Lake (front left), and Reynolds Lake (back).
It is a 5 image (portrait style) panorama. 1 off-camera flash was used to light the subject and a circular polariser was used for added contrast.

along the moonlit path of portixol, a rollerblader carves the night, his figure sharp against the ambient glow of distant city lights. this scene captures a solitary journey under the stars, where the skater merges with the rhythmic pulse of the night. the dark sky meets the deeper blues of the sea, and the scattered city lights reflect like scattered diamonds on water. every turn and glide of the rollerblader seems to write silent poetry in the air, as he moves fluidly through the quiet, his presence almost like a whisper against the vast, echoing space.
These two fishermen hauled their canoe 4km all the way up to Lake Helen MacKenzie for their own little slice of fishing heaven.
