The driver of the Northern service to Carlisle 2H12 headed out of Garsdale Station with fingers crossed that Dandry Mire Viaduct was still there! Atmospheric was word of the day both for seeing traffic on the S&C and for heading up onto Swarth Fell to see if it was any different up there. Windier and wetter!
We put the almonds for the blue/great tits on a thin rope :)
From earlier experience we noticed that if there are many different types of seeds, the sparrows became bullies.
A sparrow is trying to get a nut...
WINNER OF DAILY TELEGRAPH "BIG PICTURE COMPETITION"; 09/01/2010
La Sagrada Familia is one of Gaudi's most famous works in Barcelona. It's a giant temple that has been under construction since 1882 (that's not a typing error!) and it's not expected to be completed for between 30 to 80 years ( time for completion varies depending on different sources of information)
I was shooting primarily with my Hasselblad and don't have too many digital shots. I'll be creating some HDR from the shots that I have.
Amanda Palmer with Jherek Bischoff during her excellent gig at Union Chapel in London, last November.
My thanks are due to Jordan Verzar, Amanda's manager, for arranging my AAA pass.
You can see all my other pics of Amanda in my Amanda Palmer set.
"Closing Act:" I had seen so much drama unfold in the otherworldly landscape and dynamic skies just in the final half hour of daylight, that I thought the show was over. But then I turned 180 degrees behind me and saw this, nature's final bow. Bisti Badlands, New Mexico.
Two Bald Eagles in an epic food fight below the electrical transmission lines of the Conowingo Hydroelectric Plant.
I was talking to Dennis at lunch yesterday about the whole $2 bill thing and I set my Coke can like you see here and said, "I think the $2 bill tip money is like the Coke can balancing - it's so normal to me and something I do so often that I don't think it's weird, but everyone else seems to think so."
And yet it seems like every time I balance my Coke can people look at it like I've done magic.
Instructions:
1.) Remove 2/3rds of the contents of a 12-oz can, preferably by drinking.
2.) Set it on edge.
It's nothing, but I guarantee when you do it while in a group of people someone will be like "WHAT" especially when you roll it around in a little circle while it's still tilted.
Note: it works best with 4oz (1/3rd of the original contents) in the can, but you can make it happen anywhere between 2-6oz. Trust me. I just measured it so that I could tell you for sure.

The Grade II* Listed Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Birmingham, West Midlands.
The Museum has a collection of international importance covering fine art, ceramics, metalwork, jewellery, archaeology, ethnography, local history and industrial history.
It is run by Birmingham Museums Trust, the largest independent museums trust in the United Kingdom, which also runs eight other museums around the city. Entrance to the Museum and Art Gallery is free, but some major exhibitions in the Gas Hall incur an entrance fee. The main entrance is located in Chamberlain Square below the clock tower known locally as “Big Brum”. The Extension Block has entrances via the Gas Hall (Edmund Street) and Great Charles Street. Waterhall (the old gas department) has its own entrance on Edmund Street.
In 1829, the Birmingham Society of Artists created a private exhibition building in New Street, Birmingham and in 1864, the first public exhibition room, was opened when the Society.
Jesse Collings, Mayor of Birmingham 1878–79, was responsible for free libraries in Birmingham and was the original proponent of the Birmingham Art Gallery. A £10,000 (£840,000 in 2010) gift by Sir Richard and George Tangye started a new drive for an art gallery and, in 1885, following other donations and £40,000 from the council, the Prince of Wales officially opened the new gallery.
The Museum and Art Gallery occupied an extended part of the Council House above the new offices of the municipal Gas Department (which in effect subsidised the venture thus circumventing the Public Libraries Act 1850 which limited the use of public funds on the arts). The building was designed by Yeoville Thomason.
They're gonna put me in the movies
They're gonna make a big star out of me
We'll make a film about a man that's sad and lonely
And all I have to do is act naturally
This is originally a Buck Owens song, but I prefer Ringo version better.

Another from the My Beatles series.
My gum tree came down in a brief storm on Saturday into the back neighbour's property, the neighbour who poisoned my cats.
I know I have to capture this moments... it wont be long this 2 will be adults. just enjoying their playfull nature for now...
You know how it goes, "Be dignified" they say, "We want a decent birthday photo" they say, act your age for once" they say as they pin a badge as big as a dustbin lid on you and instruct you to wear it all day.
With all those words floating around in my mind, a playful thought pushes it's way to the front as I click the shutter release ..................
"Can't blame me, it's my second childhood" I say.
123 Pictures in 2023, theme # 25 Devlish
I got home from work yesterday and I was sitting in my truck thinking about what to have for dinner. I got a call from an person and didn’t recognize the number. We talked and said she had the wrong number. She called back in a few minutes and said she was at my house. She was so nice and gave me a painted rock. I guess she gives out painted rocks to people and her theme for this week is landscapers. Such a nice act of kindness. Thought I’d share this with everyone. :D
