A very slow moving Q101 bus huffs and puffs as it makes its way across the 59th Street / Queensboro Bridge.

This weeks theme is "Just a Walk in the Park"
Starting with this guy who was keeping me company throughout the day, probably because of the peanuts I had in my pocket! :)
There is a small peaceful oasis in the centre of Stanley Park (Vancouver BC) called "Beaver Lake" The smells and sounds of the forest surround you.....and you forget you're in the middle of a city.
I was there a few times over the last week and took some shots I hope you will enjoy!! ;)
I don't say that very often (that's another story). But they are now making accommodations for pedestrians and bicycles on the Bay Areas bridges every chance they get. This is the Benicia Bridge on I-680. When they decided that the 1950s bridge was large enough, they built another span to handle the modern traffic numbers. In the process, they allocated part of the bridge deck (on the older span) for peds and bikes. Of course, that required approach pathways on both sides of the bridge to connect to local roadways. And since this bridge is a couple hundred feet above the water, and the towns on both sides are at the water level, the pathways include some uphill segments. Even then, they make the grades humane enough for old fogies like me to climb them.
Again - Thank you, Caltrans.
