Sorry but my internet connection isn't great at the moment, will view and comment when I'm able.

Young Acer leaves bursting forth in the spring. Colour processing via NIK tools. Explored.

At last we have some sunshine. Photo taken in my back garden.

A delightful Acer in someone's front garden. Just a pity they've got scaffolding up.

Better viewed large.

Thank you for your favourites. :O)

New leaves on a colourful Acer in the gardens at Arley.

I love the Autumn and the changing colours of the leaves as the trees store up their nutrients for the cold days ahead.

Leaf colour comes from pigments. These are natural substances produced by leaf cells to help them obtain food. The three pigments that colour leaves are chlorophyll (green), carotenes (yellow) and anthocyanins (reds and pinks).

The depth of colour is influenced by the blend of chemical processes and weather conditions.

Cold nights: low temperatures destroy chlorophyll so the green leaf fades to yellow, but if temperatures stay above freezing, anthocyanin production is enhanced and the leaves take on a red colour.

Dry weather: sugars become concentrated in the leaves, more anthocyanin is produced and consequently leaves are redder.

Bright sunny days: although the production of new chlorophyll stops in autumn, photosynthesis can still occur on sunny autumn days, using the remaining chlorophyll. Sugar concentration increases, more anthocyanin is produced and the leaves are redder.

NJ Transit's Atlantic City Express Service (ACES) was a short-lived inter-city train that operated between New York Penn Station and Atlantic City with only one intermediate stop at Newark. The operation was funded by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) and three casinos in partnership. The CRDA is a state agency, as is NJ Transit, so essentially New Jersey taxpayers paid for it all, regardless of which agency funded it. Needless to say, the service was a failure and was in operation for only three years (2009-2011). The consist was certainly unique, operating with an ALP-44 electric on one end and a former Amtrak P40DC diesel on the other. The ALP powered the train between New York and Frankford Junction PA where the diesel took over for the Atlantic City leg of the journey. Push-pull operation was necessitated by the reverse move at Frankford. The train seen here was operating during the final summer of service, with 4803 leading through Edison, NJ and 4405 shoving from the rear. The 8 cars specially equipped for this service would be sent back to Bombardier to be rebuilt as regular commuter coaches. The P40DCs would put in a few more years of service on commuter assignments post-2011 before being sold to the State of Connecticut (CT Rail).

Acer Palmatum Dissectum Autumn color. Nikon Z 6ii, Minolta MC Rokkor - PF 1:1.4 f=58mm

While out scouting during the recent heavy fog I discovered this tree and was immediately taken by it's beautiful symmetry and due to the thick mist I was able to isolate it from any distracting background. I hope you enjoy the image.

As always any comments, thoughts or critiques are much appreciated

Sorry the photography mojo is still not flowing too well. But I did want to share with you guys this new toy. It's an Acer Aspire One d250 netbook. It came with windows but do not fear, fixed it ;). I put ubuntu netbook addition on it. Really cool little surfing machine. In any case hopefully I will start to think of some new things to shoot soon.

Rain-fall

It wouldn’t be autumn if I didn’t show some acer photos. Also, it wouldn’t be autumn if we didn’t get rain.

But, after the rain, there are photo opportunities.
