Acer pseudoplatanus, known as the sycamore in the British Isles and as the sycamore maple in the United States,[3] is a species of flowering plant in the soapberry and lychee family Sapindaceae. It is a large deciduous, broad-leaved tree, tolerant of wind and coastal exposure. It is native to Central Europe and Western Asia, from France eastward to Ukraine, northern Turkey and the Caucasus and southward in the mountains of Italy and northern Iberia.

* This shrub Acer palmatum ‘Sango-kaku’ is one of my favourite plants in our garden . It's also one of the most delicate and slow growing . It looks fabulous all year round, in spring it has pale green, deeply cut leaves that turn soft shades of yellow in autumn, and it also looks gorgeous in winter, after all the leaves have fallen, when its new shoots glow coral-red in the winter sunlight.
The shot was taken just as the leaves had fully emerged they still have touches of red in them. I recommend this plant but it is fairly expensive and you need a lot of patience
