Inside the main accommodation block for the garrison, with bunk bed frames still intact. Access is easy, with the obligatory warning signs, but you must take care and be equipped appropriately and you are of course entirely responsible for your own safety. At one time the forts were all sealed, but there are so many ways in that the local fire brigade grew tired of having to rescue people who became trapped when they could not re-trace their path to where they entered!

The industrial problems meant that we spent a whole 6 days at this lodge, which was the highlight of the trip.
The 'lodge' is actually a working farm on the edge of Tatama National Park. The area is extremely wet, with around 5 metres of rain annually. However, when the sun is out it is full of butterflies. Like almost all lodges it is actually a birding lodge.
The accommodation was very basic, but the family and food there were excellent.
