Earlier when I saw some abstract pictures of waterfalls I used to wonder - why this abstraction ? Now, my realization is ...
1. As I said it provides abstraction
2. Kind of unique composition
3. Mainly you are frustrated that you took all the pain to reach the waterfalls at wrong time of the day and you cannot avoid those over-exposed sunspots in the picture !
Latourell Falls, it reminded me of my sister's hair which grew so long that it almost touched the ground (of course when she was standing and she is 5'5" tall). and yeah, it is still black :) I had problems taking the full length picture of this falls at 11:00AM. So, had to be happy with the foot of the waterfalls. And thanks to that rock !

This photo is already old.. It was a school assignment! I'm still proud of it and they were also excited about this piece!
What I really see in this picture, is a man with some candy. If you really look close I bet you see it as well :-)
Wavy lines disappear into yonder, mixing and mingling with more wavy lines, untill they all coalesce into an untrackable mess.
Are the the dried up river plains? Tiny creeks on a desert soil? An alluvial delta?
They are none of the above.
This is the pockmarked remains of a effluence from a nearby hot spring in Yellowstone National Park that has since dried up or moved on. The hot liquids that once carved out these tiny wiggly pathways are no longer present. Closing in on the once-active pathways yields an abstraction, a disarray, a jumble, a tangle of lines that no longer bears any resemblance to its former self.
Oh, how I long to visit this region of fumaroles and hot springs and geysers and mountains and wildlife!!!
Shot with a zoom lens at F7.1, ISO 200 and 1/250s zoomed in to 50mm.

Los Angeles, California. Every time I get to the Getty I'm astounded by the architecture. The architect Richard Meier put incredible lines, windows, angles, curves, and textures in almost every view. You look up, down, across and through in almost any place you can get to and there are things of interest to see.
Looking at the details of this architecture abstractly reminds me of the work of Kandinsky and other Bauhaus painters and architects as well as the Russian Supremists and I wanted to make a small collection to attempt to document that.
Here's the entire set so far: Getty Center Abstractions
