This past October, 2020, I traveled to the Eagle Ridge Territory outside of Galena, Illinois. I had just gotten a new Cannon Camera with multiple lenses that I wanted to try out. These are some of those images. Photo Images credited to Vickie L Klinkhammer of Vickielynne Photography and Designs(VLP & Designs). Images may appear on wearable art and home essentials at
Abstracted crop of a larger image - a plant in a nearby garden that happened to be largely backlit by the sun.
On the night of July 3, 2022 I sat in my daughters front yard that overlooks the city of Dubuque, Iowa. The fireworks are shot over the Mississippi River at quite a distance from where we were watching them being fired up into the night sky. I used many settings on my camera, sports, landscape, creative auto. etc. I got some amazing images that make many of the fireworks look abstract and not your usual fireworks display. Once a week I try to get a drive in to different places hoping to come across something of interest for a photo shoot. On this particular day the drive was up by Potosi to Glen Haven, Wisconsin where I stumbled upon what I call a Tractor Graveyard. These tractors are dead so to speak but are waiting for new life to be breathed into them such as for parts for other tractors, upcycling, refurbishing, or recycling. What a great way to preserve our environment and to keep things out of the landfills. I never know what I'm going to find on these outings. THE BLOSSOMING LAKEVIEW
The mural concept is to create an abstracted timeline that incorporates the history and iconography that represents and honours native Mississauga. The mural begins with a green abstracted forest to show the landscape of the area, and transitions to water – flowing across the hoarding and forming into a river. The momentum of the flowing water represents our desire to reconnect with our natural environment. The mural explores humanity’s connection to large bodies of water and the calming effect we feel when we are near them. In almost every culture, water is deeply connected to life; the timeline represents the long journey to reconnect people to Mississauga’s waterfront. The mural features an eagle soaring across the water and acts as a reconnection to the land and water, inspired by one of the native translations of Mississauga: “the eagle clan”. The eagle is a predominant totem and is viewed as a great messenger. In the mural, the eagle is a messenger, soaring across time and reconnecting us to leadership and ideas on the protection of land and water.
I was taking a shot of the swan when it moved it's head and the one behind it swan into shot. Sometimes things just don't go as planned but I still like the result

Abstract detail of the rocky face of Turtle Mountain and the Frank Slide site, seen on an icy, windy morning along Crowsnest Highway in southern Alberta, Canada
Glancing at the face of the mountain through misty clouds as I was leaving the Frank Slide Interpretive Center I spotted a boundary along the mountain face, where it was stripped by a massive rockslide in 1903. The sheer stone and fan of scree is clearly contrasted by adjacent trees and undisturbed rock, all dusted by snow. I quickly snapped two shots, one horizontal and one vertical, and couldn't stop thinking about them for the rest of the trip.
They were the first photos I edited out of the 1000+ shots I brought home. Textural contrasts, transitional places, and markers of time are always interesting to me, and this scene touches on how change can be both subtle and sudden in the landscape.

Pentax K-1
SMC Pentax-DA 40mm f:2.8 Limited
The art nouveau wrought iron-work of the door of a fin-de-siecle appartment house in Linz, Austria, taken from the street at night, looking into the lighted hallway.
Processed in the RAW-converter and with the "digital filters" of the Pentax K-1, notably heightened contrast, posterisation (repeated), and (a favourite of mine because it can be so much fun) colour-swapping.

Abstracted lights and textured reflections glowing during a 30-second vision created by a passing ferry boat with a background sunset scene on the lake and along the mountains of Lake Como, Italy. Captured on Canon EOS 60D.
