On the night of July 3, 2022 I sat in my daughters front yard that overlooks the city of Dubuque, Iowa. The fireworks are shot over the Mississippi River at quite a distance from where we were watching them being fired up into the night sky. I used many settings on my camera, sports, landscape, creative auto. etc. I got some amazing images that make many of the fireworks look abstract and not your usual fireworks display. I never feel I’ve managed to do them justice however this motion blur (for me at least) helps to capture the general ambiance.
The tenuous layers of remembrance upon waking from a dream lingers in a time free zone simultaneously flashing images of imminent clarity and grasping fuzziness destined to fade with the oncoming day.
I am revisiting this image. I've been rummaging through my archives. Had forgotten about this one and am kind of enjoying rediscovering it.

SMC Pentax-DA 40mm f:2.8 Limited
The art nouveau wrought iron-work of the door of a fin-de-siecle appartment house in Linz, Austria, taken from the street at night, looking into the lighted hallway.
Processed in the RAW-converter and with the "digital filters" of the Pentax K-1, notably heightened contrast, posterisation (repeated), and (a favourite of mine because it can be so much fun) colour-swapping.
