Winter with its unpleasant side effects (cold, snow, darkness ...) is an abomination to me.
Enamored by the photography of the mid-nineteenth century with it's attitude toward such elements as scale, linear overlapping, and presence of space, I attempted such in this composition.
I am simply astonished at what those photographers created with their early photography cameras, lenses, and developing techniques.
Sure I took a dozen shots with the digital camera - that's the luxury of what they do... quite an abomination of artistic talent.
Only one shot worked - where the central characters are composed as a stretched diamond and suspended in a jumble of converging lines.
How the masters of the nineteenth century managed to compose their masterpieces with one shot using a view camera is beyond my comprehension.

My question is: Is this an abomination that threatens all Creatives or simply the next iteration of tools? And then, why do you feel that way? I can argue this both ways and am interested in your thoughts.

A few days before, the family had gathered here for Thanksgiving. Being a thirsty bunch, it was decided to see what was in the low cabinet that held all the liquor and wine.
Pulled out were bottles going back decades.
Someone, no names of course, decided that each item should be taste tested.
Sticky notes were applied so that it was evident which bottles had been tested, showing the consensus of opinion regarding quality.

Folks were still recovering a couple days later when I decided that the morning light looked pretty good on the bottles.

There should be a special place for those that destroy nature for the sake of their own "art". I'm not fond of graffiti anywhere, but in the nature world it's an abomination. Sadly, you can hardly find an easily accessed location that doesn't have it. I could easily remove those markings in photoshop, but I will not do that. Your destruction needs to be seen.

Continuing with the Heather theme, this shot from 2021, out with flickr pals Mike and Terry, and re-edited 3 years later because my first attempt 3 years ago was an abomination.
I'm on a mission, perhaps not attainable, to shoot all of the SD70s before they are rebuilt into those wide cab abominations. I'm not sure I'll get it done but we'll see.
Here's one of those spartan cab 70s, of the ex-Conrail variety, pulling mixer 10G into Enola Yard with a cut of Camrail exports fresh out of the GE plant in Erie.
Both of these, the standard cab and the Erie exports are on borrowed time. A two for one!
