Ich beschäftige mich gerade intensiv mit dem Thema "Critical Race Theory". Eines der daraus abgeleiteten Theorien ist das Konzept der Intersektionalität. Intersektionalität kommt von dem englischen Begriff intersection und heißt übersetzt „Schnittpunkt, Schnittmenge“. Der Begriff beschreibt die Überschneidung und Gleichzeitigkeit von verschiedenen Diskriminierungskategorien gegenüber einer Person. Dieses Konzept hat mir dabei geholfen ein ganz spezielles Woke-Bewußtsein für meinen eigenen Marginalisierungs-Status zu entwickeln. Ich gehöre nämlich innerhalb der Gruppe der marginalisierten postmigrantischen Sudetendeutschen der zweiten Generation - wie der Name Jarka zeigt - zu einer in unserer Mehrheitsgesellschaft oft ausgegrenzten slawischen Untergruppe mit dem Stigma eines nichtdeutschen Nachnamens. Augrund eines Arbeitsunfalls in den 80er Jahren, der zum Verlust meines kleinen Fingers führte, musste ich lernen in einer Welt zurechtzukommen, die für Menschen mit 10 Fingern geschaffen wurde. Schließlich entspreche ich als Ehemann einer 25 Jahre jüngeren Frau nun so überhaupt nicht den gesellschaftlich vorherrschenden Stereotypen und teile Ausgrenzungserfahrungen anderer queerer Menschen in unserer Gesellschaft.Die Intersektionalitäts-Theorie gibt mir nun Werkzeuge an die Hand wie ich mich mit Menschen, die identische Marginalisierungserfahrungen mit mir teilen organisieren kann.

The York Revolution were not able to ride the momentum of a series sweep into Friday’s opener as a shaky first few innings set them behind from the get-go, eventually dropping the series opener to the Long Island Ducks, 9-2 at PeoplesBank Park. It was Fiesta Friday in the park, and the Zooperstars put on a spectacular show between innings for the Revolution fans.

Thrilled to have been able to present "DRAG IS LIFE IS ART", a multi-media installation featuring video work from my “Life is Drag” project at SATELLITE Art Show in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (June, 2024).
I showcased a curated selection of "Life is Drag" video portraits (performance documentation) in 4K on a 75" monitor as well as lifeisdrag.com (the official online archive - the largest living digital archive in the world) on an adjacent laptop.
In addition, I curated a drag brunch on the final day of the fair, showcasing the best of the best performers from the Brooklyn art-drag scene - who in turn also exhibited their art at the fair in conjunction with my DRAG IS LIFE IS ART installation:
Esther the Bipedal Entity!, Paris L'Hommie, Amygdala, Linda Felcher and X-Emma (among others, Brooklyn, NY) presented 'Drag is Visual', a constellation of original works from some of the most compelling NYC drag artists featured in Rachel Rampleman's 'Life is Drag' project.
