Not being able to sleep sucks, but you might as well take advantage of early waking and heading out to capture the downtown before everyone else wakes up.

Crossing into Idaho first thing in the morning we were able to ride the fantastic Lewiston Levee Parkway Trail that had great views of the river and was separated from traffic. Wish we could have backtracked up the Hells Gate but we had a long, hot and hard day ahead. I had done some previous research and discovered a cool abandoned road called Hewett Rd which was a nice break from the highway stress. It began in the town of Spalding then rejoined the highway few miles later where the Lewis and Clark Scenic Byway was unfortunately getting a repave which made the road even narrower and more stressful. We finally reached a point where I had scouted a "Type-two" off-highway alternative route that paralleled Route 12 starting in Cherrylane, ID. At this point Ben and I accepted the challenge while Tiffany continued on Route 12. We quickly discovered the gravel and steep grades were not to be scoffed at but the road afforded some fantastic views and virtually zero cars. By the time we rejoined the highway at Ahsahka the sun was already peeking behind the hills and Tiff had already made it to the campsite. Ben put the pedal to the floor and pulled me the last thirty miles to Kamiah where we found a mostly empty KOA campsite with warm showers. What an exhausting day!

Sinagua is Spanish for "without water", an acknowledgement that the Sinagua people were able to live in such a dry region. By living in such a region the Sinagua became experts at conserving water and dealing with droughts. The Sinagua were also believed to have been active traders that stretched to the Gulf of Mexico and even as far as Central America. The Sinagua, who inhabited the dwellings in Walnut Canyon, left mysteriously around 1250 CE. It is thought that the Sinagua left because of fear of neighboring tribes or droughts, but it is not certain. The Sinagua left over 80 cliff dwellings behind. The Sinagua built their homes under limestone ledges, deep within the canyon, some time between 1125 and 1250 CE - taking advantage of the natural recesses in the limestone cliff walls which were eroded over millions of years by flowing water.[4] The dwellings themselves were small, but large enough for the inhabitants to cook and sleep. Most of the cliff dwelling rooms are situated near the loop trail, typically slightly above the trail and immediately outside the loop itself. A typical room might have been the dwelling of a single family, and might measure approximately two meters high by six meters long by three meters deep. Because of the area's dry climate, the water present in the canyon was essential for its inhabitants over 700 years ago as it is for animal and plant life today. The plant life is very diverse in Walnut Canyon, with more than 387 different plant species, including the Prickly Pear cactus and the Arizona black walnut. The biodiversity of the area includes high concentrations of sensitive plant species that probably contributed to the decision made by prehistoric people to settle in the area.[5]
There are other ruins in the 20-by-10-mile (32 by 16 km) area, but none are publicly accessible. Many more dwellings to be seen up close in the canyon just east of the Monument, although it is illegal to enter the canyon.
Panorama of the southern cliff dwellings which are inaccessible to visitors
Walnut Canyon was proclaimed a national monument on November 30, 1915 by President Woodrow Wilson to preserve the ancient cliff dwellings. It was transferred from the USDA Forest Service to the National Park Service on August 10, 1933.[6] As with all historic areas administered by the National Park Service, the national monument was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1966. At Walnut Canyon, there are trails for tourists to get a close view of the dwellings.[3]
In a Romanian language class for Ukrainian refugees, the question arose: "What is Moldova like and what are its people like?" Their enthusiastic responses spoke volumes about their experience and integration into Moldovan society.
Meet Zinaida Nerubașcenco, a resilient 70-year-old, recalls her escape from the war-torn Donbass region, arriving in Moldova with only a small suitcase. Moldova embraced her with open arms, offering assistance and empathy at every turn. Moldovans' welcoming nature made her feel at home, and the Romanian language classes played a vital role in overcoming fear and anxiety.
For Sofia Prisăcari, settling in Bălți with her Moldovan husband and daughter meant embracing the language and culture of her new home. Learning Romanian became a priority for her, as she envisions a future within Moldova's borders. She sees her daughter growing up bilingual, bridging her parents' native languages and the language of the country they live in.
These language classes, organized by the European Union and UNDP under the "Mayors for Economic Growth" initiative, have empowered refugees to integrate further into Moldovan society. By offering practical knowledge and fostering connections, the program equips participants with the tools they need for their daily lives.

Almighty God Says :" Thus, you not only need to be able to become seasoned based upon the foundation of the past, but, moreover, to expel the impurities within you under the guidance of the words of today, allowing each of My words to take root and blossom within your spirits, and more importantly, to bear more fruit. That’s because what I ask for is not bright, lush flowers, but bounteous fruit—fruit, what’s more, that does not go bad. Do you understand the true meaning of My words? Although the flowers in a greenhouse are as innumerable as the stars, and draw all the tourists, once they have wilted, they become as tattered as the deceitful schemes of Satan, and no one shows any interest in them. But for those who have been buffeted by the winds and scorched by the sun and bear testimony to Me, although these flowers are not pretty, once they have withered there comes fruit, for this is My requirement. ... We were able to take a bit of a field trip yesterday to CiCafe.
According to a Costa Rican tourism site:
"The Center for Coffee Research (CICAFE) belongs to the Costa Rican Coffee Institute. It was created in 1977 to ensure applied field investigation, efficient technical assistance to growers, and research activities.
"The CICAFE's efforts have helped improve the efficiency of coffee plantations by providing adequate control measures against pests and diseases, nutrition level upgrades, and special programs for genetic improvements. Today, Costa Rica's coffee farms have one of the highest standards of living among Latin American countries."
It was a nice facility with labs and experimental crops. They're working both on pest control and on cultivating better coffee plants. From what they said, there's some promising research being conducted. And I got to get up close and personal with my first coffee plants! Very cool.
I had trouble sleeping though, and I'm little worried about how yesterday's caffeine load would affect today's ability to cup. Surprisingly, I feel ok, but after this first round I'm already jittery. Two more rounds to go before lunch. Ugh.
I can't complain really as I'm in a beautiful place and my job is to drink coffee, but I'm worried that I won't sleep tonight. Jason said something about sleeping agents, I might have to partake.
I find I'm being a little more critical with my scoring today, even more so than yesterday. I think I'm waiting for something to really stand out and for the most part I'm getting the same moderately sweet, clean cup over and over again. There's the occasional honey coffee, obvious for it's body, but none yet have been amazing.
Of the coffees on this table, this first pair was one of the better ones, scoring an 86.
Hopefully we'll be able to keep the number of coffees in the next stage down. I don't want to have to cup through another 60 coffee day.
Tammy was able to get the skin she'd always dreamed of at LJCSC with Vbeam Perfecta, CO2, and Portrait Plasma.
San Diego cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Groff and his staff were able to provide her with the caring and professional atmosphere she needed to calm her pre-procedural nerves.
She loved her results so much she returned to get another treatment, Fraxel Re:pair within a year of her original procedures.

It was great to be able to intersperse the sustainable practice presentations with a bit of fun, exercise and fresh air. NZs north island is not known for it's rock climbing - it should be!
Steve and I hit an evening and following morning of good weather and enjoyed Wharepapa South rock offerings. Much kudos and thanks go to Bryce who has put his heart and soul into making this such a great place to visit - support them by stopping in for great coffee, an amazingly well stocked gear shop and clean, comfortable and welcoming accommodation at reasonable prices.
Check out what Bryce has to offer at the Wharepapa Outdoor Centre - www.climb.co.nz/Commercial/WhaOutDr/WhaOutDr.htm
I was able to walk through and photograph the John B. Gordon Grammar School with a man whom attended the school in the 1970’s. He had fond memories of every room, including the cafeteria, the auditorium / gym and of course the principal’s office. He pointed to the stage with a smile and said, “My very first school play was right there.”
The school opened in East Atlanta, GA in 1909. As you look through these photos, you will be able to see some of the vibrant colors of years past as lead based paint flakes and falls to the now dirt floor. You will also see that some years, the colors were dark or bland. Other years boast pastel greens and yellows.
The school was shut down in 1995 and later purchased by a development group with plans to turn the structure into loft apartments. That never happened and in 2009, the property was foreclosed on.
In April of 2014, the building caught fire. Today, it is a total loss and will likely be torn down in the near future to make way for development. When that will occur is still up in the air.
These photos were captured in June of 2014.

Bea in her party dress for the Victorian statewide Blythe meet.
(I didn't have time to take proper photos of my girls at the meet yesterday, but I thought they should be able to show off their outfits even though it's after the meet.)

able to upload something other than a picture of myself. (:
I just went Pro yesterday. My stream was getting close to 200 photos and Flickr warned me that some photos would be deleted if I don't go Pro. So now I can upload my large-sized photos! (right?) and don't have to spend extra time shrinking them. lol
Techniques: I was able to get this shot by using a slower shutter speed (4 seconds) and waiting for the right time of the day to get the sun peeking through the fence.
To get the ghosting effect I had to do the following steps: first set my camera up on a tripod, frame the shot and get the proper focus, set the shutter speed (4 seconds), set the camera timer for 3 seconds, push the shutter release, run to the chair and pose for the shot, and finally get up and run out of the frame for the next 2 seconds. This process gave me the ghosting effect I was after.
Post-processing: In post I adjusted the white balance, brought the contrast up a bit, did a little noise reduction, and brought the vibrance up just a little.
Why I chose this image: This image was chosen because it was the first time I was able to get a satisfactory ghosting image. I also really like the way that the sun is peeking through the fence. This was something that I was trying to do but the effect was much more satisfying in the final product. I also like how my dog Dixie is ghosted with me, which was just lucky.

Recipe from recanrecipe.com - But I can't seem to be able to go to the web site any more...
Pastelillos de Carne
Ingredients
3 1/3 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tbsp. shortening (chilled) (I love Crisco)
1 egg (well beaten)
3/4 cup cold water
Vegetable oil
Directions
The Dough:
Mix flour, salt and baking powder.
Cut the shortening into the flour mixture.
Using a blender, thoroughly mix the egg and water.
Add the liquid mixture to the flour and thoroughly mix using a fork.
Divide the dough into 10 pieces.
Work each piece with a rolling pin until it is the size of a small plate.
The Filling:
Please refer to "Picadillo Recipe".
Add 1 tbsp. of meat filling per pastelillo, coat the edge with a little water and fold over.
Press down the edges with a fork to secure and seal them.
Fry in plenty of oil so they will expand.
Place on paper towels to absorb the extra oil.
RICAN WARNING!!!
Handle these after being at room temperature for at least 15 minutes. They are hot and WILL burn
your mouth and "bembas".
Should make 10 pastelillos.
Tips
You can use ready-made dough which they call "plantillas", sold at Cuban grocery stores. They are
made by Goya and Cubanita brands. They come in 2 sizes and in packages of 10 circles which you
just have to stuff and seal.
In Mexican grocery stores you can find them too. They are made by "La Salteña" and bring 12-15
"tapas".
Try stuffing them with shredded cheese, shrimp, crab meat or my "Basic Meat Filling" recipe.
