Pictured is the Stevenson-designed lighthouse which was built in 1862 on St Abbs Head.

It was the first lighthouse in Scotland to have a fog horn and was manned by three full-time keepers until it became automated in 1994.

St Abbs is a small fishing village on the southeastern coast of Scotland, within the Coldingham parish of Berwickshire. The village was originally known as Coldingham Shore, the name St Abbs being adopted in the 1890s

St Abb's Head is a rocky promontory by the village of St Abbs in Berwickshire, Scotland, and a national nature reserve administered by the National Trust for Scotland

I headed up to St Abbs last night hoping to capture some Perseid Meteors as the weather forecast was clear until around 1am. When I arrived it was crystal clear but I could see a fog bank on the horizon which slowly moved toward me and within half an hour I was completely engulfed in fog. I was a bit disappointed I didn't get to see any meteors but I'm happy with what I came home with after such a long journey. What a difference 30 minutes can make to a shot!

A beautiful miserable grey day on the very rugged east coast of Scotland

St Abbs just about my favourite spot that I have found while holidaying

Taken last weekend when we had some good weather at St Abbs near the harbor.

Difficult to get the colours right with the B&W ten stop and a Lee Grad filter.

Been raining all day here and doesn't look good for the weekend so probably not much shooting.

Still waiting for the Hitech Pro ND10 filter. Just hope its a good as the reviews

Update - got my Hitech filter today as hadn't checked the post, but could be a few days before i can use it properly, but will try and test the colour cast this eve.

Further Update- Tried the filter for a test shot and the cast looks somewhere in between the Lee and B&W which is great news, but the filter has a flaw as there is a dark patch in it. I can't see it with the naked eye but it will be going back... Apart from that it looks promising

Taken at St Abb's Nature Reserve while returning home from my parents. This is a small copper butterfly.

Was raining yesterday and knew the weather was better further South.

Drove about 40 miles and had about 20 mins before the rain kicked in so only got a couple of shots.

Pleased with this one though especially the comp and the cloud movement

A visit to St Abbs this evening. This was the first shot of the night before I started to struggle for light. I really should get myself more organised.

Had a gorgeous coastal walk with my wife today from Coldingham to St Abbs lighthouse. Wasn't really meant to be a togging day but took my gear anyway....! Couldn't resist this beautiful lighthouse and nice horizon! Some great rocky coves down there - definitely be back soon.
