Designed by George Thomas Hine and built in 1903, it closed it's doors in 1994.
A return visit to this amazing place
I've been seeing a lot of these recently. The combustion takes place outdoors, and hot glycol is pumped through hoses indoors to heat exchangers.
I am posting this because I just haven't posted anything in a while. I have not been taking very many pictures lately. It has been rainy, and when it isn't rainy I'm distracted by other activities.
I was going to post this for the "Round/Circular" topic in the Exploring Photography club but I never did so I'm posting it now.
The strip down shows that this once expensive domestic heater had a long service life, but has long been disused. It will need a total strip down careful rebuild. This is our fourth restoration of one of these classic 1950s Bakelite electric heaters. This is a more unusual red & Black coloured variant, but that said it is actually in a poor state internally. The former owner, who can remember his grandfather using the heater in the bathroom! ...Said that it had been stored in the damp attic of his grandfather's house for decades. It needs some careful TLC, but it's well built and well worth the required effort.

The house next door is for sale. The water heater is in a hole in the crawl space under the floor. See the insulation? Me, neither.
well - apparently my town is doing some sort of hot-water-heater buyback - which means - after sucessfully keeping my father out of the basement (he never actually needs to go down there) for a couple years - he will inevitably go down there - my museum of packaging is at risk (!) - does anybody know how I can start an ACTUAL museum - because - he is going to bust a nut - and - if he doesn't actually kick me out - Im sure they will want to get a dumpster - they have a museum of packaging in the UK that is popular - Id probably donate stuff to an exisiting one here if it existed - I do have a storage unit - which is mostly full of my flea market stuff - I can get some more boxes in there -but - this is going to require stashing like 100 boxes of stuff - maybe some kind soul out there who lives in New England (Western Mass would be the best) would let me "hide" a bunch of stuff for a month or two - though - the long term solution would be my museum idea - input would be greatly appreciated!!
Here you can see the nozzle and how it is formed near the cartridge heater.

Make a note of which wire goes where. May be an idea to label if you're not too good on the memory front. I took photos of everthing with the mobile camera as a visual reference. A picture's worth a thousand words as they say!

The Function of Electric Sauna Heater
î´“
The electric sauna heater can be heated faster than a wood-burning heater. In this electric sauna heater, the electric current passes through the resistive elements, where the resistance causes energy to be converted into heat energy. When it becomes heat energy, the elements heat up and are transferred directly through physical contact to the stones stacked upon them. And when these stones finally store the heat, they will heat the air surrounding them, making the sauna experience work efficiently.
How To Use And Enjoy Your Sauna?
01 Drink some water before you go into the sauna.
02 TURN ON THE SAUNA HEATER. Make sure there is nothing on the stove stone.
03Full the bucket with water and put the ladle close to the bucket.
04Wait for the sauna to reach the desired temperature (usually 20 to 30 minutes).
05Take a warm shower and enter the sauna without drying. Wash away any make-up and hair products.
06Empty your mind before go into the sauna. Breathe evenly and relax.
07 Have a seat or lay on your sauna bench cover on the highest bench. If feels too hot, lie down or move to a lower bench, or step out of the sauna to cool off.
08 You can start to throw some water on the stones once you have become accustomed to the temperature inside the sauna.
09 Cool off outside from time to time.
10 Go into the sauna as many times as you wish.
11 Take a shower and wash yourself after sauna finished.
12 Continue to relax and drink some water after your sauna.
If you are googling for alternatives to the classical tank water heater model, we recommend considering tankless water heaters to meet your needs. A tankless water heater is also an economical choice for heating water for laundry, dish-washing or showering. These heaters do not store hot water, so you're not using energy to heat the water, just to have it standing in the tank. Our plumbers are all highly trained and qualified with tankless water heaters. Give us a call today and enjoy the benefits of this service.

The dial rotates at one revolution per day. Each switch along the dial indicates whether the heater should be on during that 15 minute period.
When the box said programmable, this isn't quite what I expected, but I think I like this mechanical solution much better than digital.

Just a very old and funky shaped heater put in the middle of the backyard for one of my friends' wedding party.
Detail of dent in top of water heater found after opening box. There was no sign of damage to the box before opening it.
This is an illustration from Ianto Evans and Leslie Jackson's book Rocket Mass Heaters: Superefficient Stoves You Can Build (and Snuggle up to), which can be purchased from their site: www.rocketstoves.com/ I've been so eager to try my hand at building one, for many reasons but mainly because of their amazing use of woods combustive properties and the use of cob as a thermal mass to store all of the heat from combustion (in the form of benches or day beds). Ianto says in the introduction that he heats his cottage year-round using only 2/3 of a cord per year!
For so long I wished to have a wood burning stove, but who in their right mind would want to willingly chop all of the wood those things consume? Friends of mine heated their house with a wood-burning stove last year and it ate through several cords just to heat one room for the season...
With a few dead trees and a manual splitter one could heat their living space with little effort... And a back to spare.
On top of these amazing features, you can heat up a pot of tea to enjoy during all that free-time you'll have when not chopping wood.
You can also use this heating method to heat water, like our friends at Milkwood did: www.flickr.com/photos/cicada/sets/72157613058564419/ or inside of a small greenhouse: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtFvdMk3eLM
