Dernier représentant de son espèce, ayant capitulé longtemps après les autres,le Train Auto-Couchettes (TAC) 5793 "Val de Durance" reliant la capitale à Briançon est vu dans les derniers kilomètres du parcours, peu après l'Argentière. Les BB 67376 et 67408 vrombissent pour hisser la rame encore longue à l'époque, la rampe de 25 pour mille commençant dès le carré de sortie de la gare, le train monte sans élan.
A cette période, les voitures couchettes étaient acheminées par le train 5773 "Train Bleu" de Paris Austerlitz à Valence. Les deux DD étaient acheminés par l'Auto-Train 24511 Paris-Bercy - Marseille jusqu'à Valence.
A Bilbao, au pied du Guggenheim: des marionnettes jouent aux castagnettes avec leurs bouches en bois devant les passants et s'inclinent profondément lorsqu'on leur verse une obole. De temps en temps on enlève les manteaux pour aller boire un coup, car il fait chaud là-dessous!
In Bilbao, near the Guggenheim Museum: puppets play castanets with their wooden mouths in front of the tourists and bow by making a profound reverence when an obole is paid for them. From time to time coats are removed to go to have a drink, because it is warm under there!

A few weeks later the 4211 had arrived from the Lake Superior Transportation Museum which made for a perfect ABBBA set. It also gave the crew a place to ride and control the power from on the long reverse move from Hoyt Lakes to Tac Harbor.
On a generally very cloudy morning a bunch of us were waiting below the ore dock to get a shot as the F's put the first cut of loads on the dock before getting more empties to load. Then they would double on to the loads on the dock and head for Cramer.
About that time Bud Bulgrin shows up and our hopes of getting some sun went way up. For those of you that don't know, Bud is referred to as the Human High Pressure System around here. Sure enough, a few seconds after he got into position, the F's came out on the dock and the sun came out for about two minutes. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. The Bud Effect. Incredible.
