Kenny Loggins - Danger Zone
Revvin' up your engine
Listen to her howlin' roar
Metal under tension
Beggin' you to touch and go
Highway to the Danger Zone
Ride into the Danger Zone
Headin' into twilight
Spreadin' out her wings tonight
She got you jumpin' off the deck
Shovin' into overdrive
Highway to the Danger Zone
I'll take you right into the Danger Zone
You'll never say hello to you
Until you get it on the red line overload
You'll never know what you can do
Until you get it up as high as you can go
Out along the edges
Always where I burn to be
The further on the edge
The hotter the intensity
Highway to the Danger Zone
Gonna take it right into the Danger Zone
Highway to the Danger Zone
Ride into, the Danger Zone!!
The burned out remnants of a recent forest fire along the Sonora Pass overlook an expanse of the sierra range.
the ideal neighborhood
of parked cars
of little green lawns
of little homes
the little doors that open
and close
as relatives visit
throughout the holidays
the doors closing
behind the dying
who die so slowly
behind the dead
who are still alive
in your quiet average
neighborhood
of winding streets
of quiet desperation
of empty lives:
a dog barking behind a fence,
a man silent at the window.

Was intrigued by these black lines on a felled tree trunk on a log pile yesterday. Have since learned that they are 'battle fronts' between various fungal colonies. An interesting blog about it here: www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/blog/2017/11/rings-and-black-lin...

One can not embrace the 'New Topographics' movement of the 1970's with their human altered landscapes without giving attention to the man who introduced the poetic beauty of nature through his impeccably rendered images.
I have always looked for that one scene which would offer the chance to grasp the range of tonality which Ansel Adams was famous for.
His one image I am particularly enamored by because of how it runs the range of zone densities is "Silverton Colorado 1951".
I also like the way he manages the perspective or lack thereof in the scene.
There at the side of the road I finally found that zone rich location I was searching for.
It is apparent after seeing my previous recent monochrome images that though they have fair black and white harmonics in comparison this analog photo and it's nuances and lighting is my little treasure.

This is the most festive-looking image I have in my more recent collection of archive photos. Even the ornaments framing the roof's glass dome look a little Christmassy, so this image had to be my Holiday upload for this year.
The location itself is a lot less festive given the fact that it's a U-Bahn (subway/underground) station, albeit one of Berlin's most beautiful historical stations (U-Bhf. Heidelberger Platz) along one of the city's oldest underground lines, the U3. Heidelberger Platz station also connects to Berlin's Ringbahn (circle line). The overhead Ringbahn station was opened in 1883, and the subway station followed in 1913. The profile of U-Bhf. Heidelberger Platz is twice as deep as other subway stations in Berlin. This allowed architect Wilhelm Leitgebel to construct a station with particularly high ceilings which he designed as a groin vault reminiscent of a cathedral's roof.
As for my title: In Berlin's U-Bahn and S-Bahn (urban railway) network there are official "busker zones" for street musicians at the stations. The sign that you can see in the lower right corner of my image designates that particular zone for U-Bhf. Heidelberger Platz. So I hope that you all have a merry song in your mind right now and will sing many more together with your loved ones during the Christmas days :)
Wishing you a Merry Christmas, dear Flickr friends!
The Headquarter of the LVM in Münster/Germany on a cloudy day with strong wind. The building is called "Kristall". It is 63m/17 stories high and was designed by the architects Duk-Kyu Ryang and HPP.
I took a flying visit to London yesterday and gave myself a couple of hours to walk around with my camera... it was busy, which is great for street photography!
This is the front of Liberty department store (the black taxi cab was a happy accident). Underneath the clock is written "No minute gone comes ever back again, take heed and see ye nothing do in vain." A motto to live by, I think :).

aren't we always under construction? Maybe we should aim for a definite style?
[I was, I think, feeling sorry for myself this afternoon... anyway, I felt blue about coping with more pain. Then Doug and I went for a wee walk - and I learned so much about myself and others!]

Leopard frog, Rondeau Provincial Park, May 19, 2020.
The northern leopard frog (Lithobates pipiens) is green or brown with dark, rounded, light-edged random spots, and has prominent dorsolateral folds (folds of skin running down each side of the back) and a white belly that occasionally has a yellowish tinge.
The call is a low snore followed by several low grunts and does not carry very far.
