I took this photo of a wax figure of Rick Genest at a Montreal street festival a few years ago. It was so life like it was insane. Rick passed away in August of 2018.

A zombie fashion shoot was the order of the day and the photographers wanted Girls! Girls! Girls! I was called as one of the make up artist. This is Nancy, the model I made up, She requested a grey zombie but wanted to remain beautiful and I was happy to oblige.

A zombie is a creature that appears in folklore and popular culture typically as a reanimated corpse or a mindless human being. Stories of zombies originated in the Afro-Caribbean spiritual belief system of Vodou, which told of the people being controlled as laborers by a powerful sorcerer. Zombies became a popular device in modern horror fiction, largely because of the success of George A. Romero's 1968 film Night of the Living Dead.
I've always been a fan of the Zombie apocalypse theme. All in all, beyond the splatter, the films linked to survival have a primordial charm, and make us realize how precarious is the existence of man on planet Earth. Whether for a virus, or for some other strange event, we are always at risk of extinction. So, take your guns and knives, and fight until death! : P

I saw these zombies and of course too much Walking Dead immediately put the idea in my head of doing a picture. The backdrop ("Underground" zone in Backdrop CIty) is a NYC subway one that just seemed perfect. Whenever I have been in the NY subways I do feel like running away screaming!
