It seemed necessary to do a cooler shot in my zombie hunting shirt, although I have too much hair for you to see the front logo in this shot.

Zombies have a complex literary heritage, with antecedents ranging from Richard Matheson and H. P. Lovecraft to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein drawing on European folklore of the undead. George A. Romero's reinvention of the monster for his 1968 film Night of the Living Dead led to several zombie films in the 1980s and a resurgence of popularity in the 2000s. The "zombie apocalypse" concept, in which the civilized world is brought low by a global zombie infestation, became a staple of modern popular art.
The English word "zombie" is first recorded in 1819, in a history of Brazil by the poet Robert Southey, in the form of "zombi". The Oxford English Dictionary gives the origin of the word as West African, and compares it to the Kongo words nzambi (god) and zumbi (fetish).

I bought a number of pens, and these were the ones that worked. The white is applied first, because as it dries any ink under it will show through. Black is applied next (with both the thick pen and the Micron 005), then the light red, and then the dark red.
Any Sharpie will do in the place of the black Identi Pen]. The ink from the IP dries to a glossier finish than the ink from the 005, giving the faceless zombies' empty eye sockets a creepier look.
Saturday 4th April. A group of people dressed as zombies perform a flashmob around Liverpool city center. At 1pm they set off from St Georges Hall and headed through the streets of Liverpool via Liverpool One. Along the way shoppers and passers by laughed and looked confused as the zombies meandered around. At one point they attacked the window of Cafe Nero and tried to get into John Lewis's only to be turned away by security.

There is some speculation that the word derives from West African languages – ndzumbi means ‘corpse’ in the Mitsogo language of Gabon, and nzambi means the ‘spirit of a dead person’ in the Kongo language. These were the areas where European slavers forcibly transported vast numbers of the population across the Atlantic to work in the sugar cane plantations of the West Indies, the vast profits of which motored the rise of France and England to world powers. The Africans took their religion with them. However, French law required slaves to convert to Catholicism. What emerged was a series of elaborate synthetic religions, creatively mixing elements of different traditions: Vodou or Voodoo in Haiti, Obeah in Jamaica, Santeria in Cuba.

A company called Zed Events use the Mall for Airsoft and Zombie events. They have people made up like zombies (very realistically!) and you fight your way through the old abandoned Mall :)
