Taken on the overpass of Zhongxiao W. Road in Taipei, Taiwan. For the better result of traffic trails, this image was stacked up with two shots.
Forkers is an incredibly popular burger restaurant in 東區 here in Taipei. Hour waits are not uncommon and they've since opened a second shop near Zhongshan MRT station to similar demand.
And why? I have no earthly idea other than to think Taiwanese people have broken burger taste buds.
I tried two burgers that night and they were both godawful in opposite ways. One was doused in seasoning and the other was devoid of taste.
The regular cheese burger was dry and way over seasoned with all kinds of flavorings to mask the lack of flavor of the cheap beef they use.
The other burger I tried was advertised as a Wagyu beef burger. I assume they realize you don't over season good beef but I don't think they even bothered salting it. There was no flavor whatsoever. Plus it was also dry and I highly doubt the beef they used was true Wagyu. I've had Wagyu beef, and it has good flavors even if you don't season it at all. This was just bland cheap beef. Minus the salt, add on the dryness, mix in some cheap fake Wagyu, what you get is a cardboard tasting patty.
Going back to why this place is so freaking popular? I can only assume that Taiwanese people like the TGIF-like decoration and colorful photo-filled menus. I much rather think of my compatriots as having no taste in decoration than having no taste in food.

Here is a big arrow, pointing right at my head. I'm not feeling melancholy, in fact, I'm taking a break from singing "Dejà Vu" by Beyoncé, which my iPod kept playing (somehow when I reformatted it, it doesn't shuffle like it used to). I went and wandered around this afternoon, looking for a place to sit and have coffee, but it seems like the rest of the city had that idea. Feeling impatient, I wandered into SIX different cafés looking for a table, but all were packed (quelle shock!). I did get off some interesting shots earlier in the day, so it wasn't a loss at all.
My face sure is fat here. Time to go workout!

I moved in here in August.
According to the lease, it is 13.66 坪[1], or roughly 485 ft² (45 m²). Feels smaller than that though. One day I'll take out a tape measure and figure out the exact square footage of actual usable space.
The doorman building is brand new and it's literally on top of a MRT exit (very convenient). There is a fancy membership gym [2] in the basement (which I joined but rarely go) that has a 3-lane temperature-controlled pool (which I hardly use). There is also free broadband internet in every unit. The bandwidth kind of blows, but it's free.
It's better in every way than my last apartment (it's larger; it has more closet space; it has an actual kitchen with a gas stovetop and an oven[3]; it has a better bathroom; it has free net access; it's closer to the MRT; it's closer to a market; it has fancy gym with pool in basement) EXCEPT for one thing: my window overlooks the main thoroughfare of Zhongxiao East Road and it is hella noisy all hours of the day and night. I'll probably be moving again when the lease is up.
[1] That's how real estate area is measured in Taiwan. One 坪 (píng) is equal to two Japanese tatami mats or 3.3058 m² or 35.5833 ft².

[3] Gas stovetops are rare in newer Taipei buildings and ovens are rare in Taiwanese homes in general.
