These are beautiful and well-made cameras that take surprisingly sharp photos. The 635 has an insert that allows the use of standard 35mm film to take tall vertical format shots.

In the early 1970’s during college breaks, I hitchhiked across the U.S. and made two trips to British Columbia.

I had a Yashica TL Super 35mm, and a 3.5 Xenar Rolleiflex and used Ilford HP4 film

*First time using Black/White & Green developer, made by Flic Film. Does seem to be relatively sharp with fine grain. Developer itself reminds me of molasses, both in colour and viscosity, and it is used at an 1:49 ratio (10mL developer mixed with 490mL of water at 20°C). HP5 developed for 15.25 minutes, with 1st minute continuous inversion, followed by 10 second inversions every minute.

Test roll with the new Yashica SLR. 1/500, f1.4. I like the DOF like this. The 50mm lens doesn't distort her nose as much as the 45mm on my Yashica rangefinders.

Yashica Mat 124G | Ilford FP4

After two months break, I took out my coated with dust Yashica Mat 124G from cabinet, loaded a roll of FP4 and decided to shoot photos with DIY red filter made out of red 55 mm filter, made-in-china lens hood and a black insulating tape.

This is a great camera to shoot with. TLRs are a great way to enter medium format. I recommend Yashicas to anyone.

Have only got mono film so I improvised. A bit of indoor lp to while away the cold winters night and avoid going out to face the real world. :-)

Too cold for a star trail tonight so indoor lp .1960 Yashica 44a Twin Lens Reflex on a tripod looking upwards towards the Phisiogramme led. Dslr looking horizontally into ground glass viewfinder. Set on Bulb, released shutter, span led with coloured film covering. Capped the lens mid stream for 30seconds ish, uncapped for a bit, recapped, changed the coloured film and repeated. Checked focus screen, smiled loaded onto puter, cropped to square and uploaded. 1st try, yippee. (could repeat so focus screen shield is in focus but it's a skool night and I have beer)
