These guys are going to make decent evil alien robot somethings.

Even though, each requires about thirty thousand of those 1L-bar-with-claw pieces to get properly articulated (actually eight)

One gun's from Brickarms; the other, Enlighten.

The Sonex, Waiex and Xenos are a family of lightweight, metal, low-wing, two seat homebuilt aircraft. Kits are produced and marketed by Sonex Aircraft, a small manufacturer based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Sonex G-CIDX is seen landing at Gloucestershire Airport, Staverton, on 18.09.2022.

Painted one of my Xeno Warrior sets for a friend, so here it is.

Very fun set to paint and I think I pretty much finished it in around 4-5 sittings.

Started with some spray on grey primer, then went with a very, very dark grey base coat (intentionally not black) and then dry brushed with some good old Leadbelcher. I've never had so much fun dry brushing, as this thing just comes to life.

After that, I used about 4 gallons of Nuln Oil, then went over with a little more dry brushing with some Ironbreaker and finally sealed with a heavy coat of gloss varnish.

I might try the next one with some blue glaze, as I ended up using a blue filter on the shot anyway ; )

Hope you like it.

Common names: Golden star; Sterretjie (Afrikaans).

Botanical name: Spiloxene capensis. Spilos from the Greek for spotted and xenos, a stranger.

Family: Hypoxidaceae.

This is my first encounter with this tiny flower - I almost overlooked it. Spiloxenes are usually yellow but apparently they are sometimes white and rarely pink. I found several white ones and one pink Spiloxene growing side by side.

.......................................................................................................................

The Green heron (Butorides veriscenes) is relatively small; adult body length is about 44 cm (17 in). The neck is often pulled in tight against the body. Adults have a glossy, greenish-black cap, a greenish back and wings that are grey-black grading into green or blue, a chestnut neck with a white line down the front, grey underparts and short yellow legs. The bill is dark with a long, sharp point. Female adults tend to be smaller than males, and have duller and lighter plumage, particularly in the breeding season. Juveniles are duller, with the head sides, neck and underparts streaked brown and white, tan-splotched back and wing coverts, and greenish-yellow legs and bill. Hatchings are covered in down feathers, light grey above, and white on the belly.

The green heron's call is a loud and sudden kyow; it also makes a series of more subdued kuk calls.

When I finally managed to return to flickr I saw some wonderful images of this sim, so thank you to Annie Klavinham, Ziki Questi and others for sharing your images and the location.

I spent a long time exploring, and each step there was something new - the way the light changed, a detail, an angle - to delight the eye.

This is somewhere that will repay repeated visits.
