Had some requests for the other parts of the mysterious message I found in a 1950s textbook on journalism - so here they are!

"I have lost 2 doz. friends - 20 people think I am crazy, & the Dean of my school thinks I have the worst case of ???? he has ever see."
and I have no idea what the word at the bottom is that starts with "L"
Inspired by 'The Two Crows', Child Balled No.26 - Re-worked into 'The Three Ravens'. I think originally they feasted on a horse. I believe later workings changed this to a good Knight. I have brought it as best I can for me into the present day drawn from an experience of a fisherman finding a lost soul on the water:
'There were Three Ravens sat upon a tree.
They were as Black & as Steely as Might Be.
High on the Cliff where the Huers Hut once stood.
Stared out to Sea, gaze as Strong as Ironwood.
----------------------------------
Oh the Ravens watching me, as I set out on the Sea.
-----------------------------------
One of them turned & said to his mates.
"Where this morn shall we our breakfast take?"
Out 'pon the outcrop amongst a Busted Keel, lies a Young Body - and He shall make our Meal.
--------------------------------
Oh the Ravens watching me, as I set upon the Sea.
-----------------------------------
I headed East, leaned towards the Rising Sun.
Out past fast water saw the Spirit of John Dunne.
There at his feet midst Rock Needles & Foam Scum.
Rested the lad, that was the Farmer's Son.
-----------------------------------
Oh the Ravens watching me, As I set out upon the Sea.
---------------------------------
I hooked him over, Hauled him on the deck.
Nothing much remained of his body 'mongst the wreck.
Back on the shingle I lay his Lifeless Frame.
Working on the Land he saw the Sea as such a Game.
---------------------------------
Oh the Ravens watching me, as I set out 'pon the Sea.
---------------------------------
---------------------------------
---------------------------------
Buried by the Roots of the Hollow Twisted Tree.
Watched over by Three Ravens who once looked over me.
Now every morning as I slip from Land to Sea.
Head out on the Water, Knowing What will be Will Be.
-----------------------------------
Oh the Ravens watching me, as I set out on the Sea.
-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
There were Three Ravens sat upon a Tree.
They were as Black & as Steely as could be.
High on the Cliff where the Huers Hut once stood.
Stared out to Sea, gaze as Strong as Ironwood.'
Song written and first played 29/6/12. My memory is so poor it is the first song I can play without looking at any lyrics or chords. Sadly it is also just about the only one in this category. I figured I would post this with a linocutting to suit. The linocutting still awaits but I needed to set my lyrics free.

this is where i'll be writing my NaNoNovel, about a) a girl who breaks her favorite key dish on her way out the door, b) a pirate captain and his homosexual love affair with a kitchen boy, or c) a time-traveling renegade scientist with a bad guilt complex. yeah.

Thank you Ragnar Benson Inc for laying down this fine concrete sidewalk in 1963.
For those curious about the company that laid the concrete sidewalk on on lower sidewalk of the Wrigley Building, Ragnar Benson is still in business.
From their website www.ragnarbenson.com "RAGNAR BENSON is a multi-faceted construction company that has steadily built a solid reputation since 1922."
They did the parking structure at O'Hare International Airport. However, don't expect much if you search for "sidewalk" on their website. It comes up with zero results.

When i was enjoying the night sky at the roof top and suddenly get crazy idea of writing the name of my loved ones.
Montblanc Flagship Boutique 151 Bloor St. W. Toronto ON.
For 22 years, the luxury brand headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, has celebrated the contribution of a different historical patron of the arts and coincides with the annual Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Awards, an honour established in 1992 to recognise the commitment of modern-day patrons of the arts in 12 countries. The latest Patron of Art Edition, with its Solid Gold Limited Edition 888 and its Sterling Silver Limited Edition 4810 fountain pens priced at £6,400 and £1,765 respectively (including VAT), celebrates the life of Ludovico Sforza (1452 – 1508), the Duke of Milan, a shrewd ruler and an ambitious diplomatist who had an insatiable passion for the arts, transforming the Italian city into one of the most magnificent courts in Europe. Under the Duke’s patronage, Leonardo Da Vinci created his most famous works including the ‘Last Supper’ and the ‘Lady with an Ermine’. The monumental Castello Sforzesco in Milan, home to the prestigious ducal dynasty is the inspiration for the Editions’ cap and clip design which boats distinctive cylindrical towers. The writing instrument’s fittings replicate the pattern Da Vinci, used in his fresco in the “Sala delle Asse” or “Chamber of Boards”, as well as in the Mona Lisa’s robes and ornaments. The initials engraved on the cap’s ring originate from the “Testone”, a silver coin issued in honour of Ludovico Sforza during the Milanese Renaissance. The blue lacquered cap and barrel of the Limited Edition 888 are embellished with Da Vinci’s pattern in dark translucent blue. The fountain pen’s solid gold fittings contrast with majestic blue lacquer, reflecting the vibrant colour of the ceiling fresco. Crowned with the distinctive Montblanc emblem in fine mother-of-pearl and with its cone adorned with the Duke’s coat of arms, this writing masterpiece is a fitting representation of the magnificence of Sforza’s court. In contrast, the Limited Edition 4810’s cap and barrel are crafted from precious black lacquer featuring Da Vinci’s intricate designs in silver. The 925 Sterling Silver fountain pen is crowned with the Montblanc star in white precious resin. The 750 rhodium plated solid gold nib of the Edition is engraved with the Duke’s coat of arms, a final acknowledgement to a lasting cultural legacy.

2013 Montblanc Ludovico Sforza = 2013 Duke of Milan Limited Edition. I love the design, but as a limited edition it may well have priced itself out of my weekly allowance range. I didn't ask the price.
The design of the Limited Edition Ludovico Sforza 4810 and 888 cap top and cone is characterised by the striking architecture of the Castello Sforzesco. The black lacquer of the 4810 edition is adorned with ornaments inspired by da Vinci's ceiling fresco from the "Sala delle Asse" in the Milanese castle. Leonardo's pattern

I have made a laptop desk for writing. I cut it out of a glued-up piece of pine (probably from Estonia) that was discarded outside grad student housing, and cut it to size.
It is 24x36 inches (60x90 cm), with a recess to fit around my body and have side pieces for support and for the odd pen or notebook.
The photo has labels for the important elements.
Whitman 1954 Big Big Paint Book
Hello everyone! Since some of you may have children staying at home, I thought this was a good time to share scans of one of my vintage coloring books, in this case paint book. The book is large and has a lot of pages so it will take me several days to post over 300 pages. I love the art work in these old books.
Except for the title page, I tried to whiten the others so they did have a tan hue.
Sitting on some sandbags and surrounded by scattered debris, this officer is writing a letter home. He is wearing puttees (protective leggings) over his lower legs.
Mail to and from home was strictly censored during the conflict. Soldiers were not allowed to mention the name of wherever they were located. As many of the soldiers were illiterate, officers also had to read out and transcribe letters for the men.
It is interesting to note that although the establishment was keen to suppress news and opinions about the war, the press did like to give the front line soldiers a voice.
