Day 4 - At my desk writing the fourth InkStains story. More details on my website www.darkfluidity.com
My first job interview was with the local bus company Rhondda Transport. This envelope bore the tidings that as I could not calculate the amount of fuel needed to take a coach of certain capacity from Porth to Caernafon I did not get the job in the publicity office writing the company magazine. Still can't figure it out.
Mailed from their offices in AberRhondda Road, Porth sometime in August/September 1968.
My second interview was no less inauspicious. Made my way to the Cardiff Studios of Harlech TV didn't get the job as a junior hack. By now I was doubting my abilities as a wordsmith, a budding Hemingway or Greene, I eventually realised that I would not even reach the dizzying heights of Ms Blyton. So thank God for the Celtic Press in the shape of the Rhondda Leader.

I have seen photos of the entrance in various books over the years and had assumed it had long gone, but in fact it stands next to Norwood fire station.

Words and food. Can words be food? Sure – brain food, too. And can food be told in better, attractive, relevant, original, juicy words? Sure, again. The idea behind this project is creating and promoting exclusive educational formats on food writing, plus networking with similar initiatives in Italy. Foodbloggers, connaisseurs, students and gourmets are the ideal participants who will nurture their ambitions.

Foodwriting is a lean, thematic website featuring short classes and workshops ranging from absolute beginners to specialists. Because food or wine – whether simple or sublime – must not be ruined by stodgy words.

Sadly, this excellent example of the street artist's craft has since been removed by the local authority vandals. Don't question authority!

my old poetry book where I wrote all the stuff I liked and asked my friends to write their favorite poem. I left my rucksack with the book inside on a train and was devastated, but it got found and I got everything back. The only thing missing from the pack was a Michael Jackson cd. Life is strange...
One of my favorites! I'm not sure when this was painted or what it was used for but it is a relatively small show card (only about 14" tall). Sam loved making show cards, I believe it was his favorite part of the sign industry. I've heard stories of him lettering show cards right at the kitchen table.
