A partly submerged boat, the Mahery, in the backwaters of the harbour in Oostende. The tug was built in Russia in 1976 and operated in Lithuania with the name Svyturys. After a further name change she appears to have become the Mahery around 2009 and then she somehow ended up in Oostende. The owner is unknown to the Belgian authorities. The ship leaked oil in the harbour, forcing the authorities to put an oil boom around her and extract the fuel. The Mahery is the subject of legal debate, with eight Belgian government bodies involved.
A sad ending to a working boat that once braved the sea, carrying her crew.
August 13, 2010 (Friday) - Was a great day to head to the water. It's quite a hike down from the road. Still hard to believe the city is just around the corner ...
I comment about my life and opinions in my eJournal and images every single day.
The Drumbeg wreck site in the Highland's is one of Scotland's Historic Marine Protected Areas. One of the most exciting finds from the wreck survey at Drumbeg was a delft tile depicting a Dutch ship which was probably not too different from the wreck itself!

This is something Volkswagen based I believe. Looked like it'd been the desert for 50 years. Not sure if it had been 'aged' like the Fender 'Relic' series.
After we explored the mining wreck a bit, B's friend and her boyfriend took off, and B and I had dinner and went to bed. You can't tell from the photos, but the campsite was really bare, and poorly laid out. The pit toilet was on the other side of a bluff that you had to climb up and over to get to. The eating and food storage area were a steep climb up the little bluff, and the water was down a steep drop from the campsites.
Even though it was a workout to go to the bathroom (...I may have just hidden in the trees on the bluff to pee), I loved this campsite. It was so beautiful.

Sorry for not being able to visit your streams lately. I haven't been posting of taking images also. The loonys are taking over and they're supported by some green meanies, but we have to stay positive and I hope things will be back to normal soon. :-)
