I took a number of photos of a wonderful and elaborate model railway and town at The Living Desert, near Palm Springs, California. They were mostly experiments, seeing what kind of effect I'd get. Some are a little blurry, but I think these ones work, in varying weird ways.
I absolutely had a blast shooting tonight. I always like shooting at Wreck Beach (aside from all the hippies and naked old dudes with their wrinkly dongs wagging around) and tonight was no exception. The sky was great, the tide was cooperative, my buddy Richard Neindorf was with me and here were hippies galore and lots of dongs.
I think composing is starting to become a bit more natural. I still struggle to get rolling but once I am on to something it seems to really come together better than it used to.
This shot was a blend of a few exposures… 4 for the focus stacking of the foreground, and one for the sky/rocks toward the upper middle ground and sky. I took far more for the focus stacking exposures, but the sky exposure was pretty sharp for the most part and the blend was easier by using more of it.
Enjoy!

They are called ghost ships. Thw ships were put there to create a breakwater but time and the elements have corroded most of them.
Wreck beach,
Great Ocean Road
This particular spot along Wreck Beach is a location I would love to revisit in all kinds of different conditions - several rock shelves bear the brunt of the incoming swell before water rushes over giant kelp. Different tidal conditions make a huge difference to the appearance of this scene. [Deviant Art Gallery] [Facebook] [Web Gallery] [500px][G+]

Not photographed these wrecks for a couple of years, Of the wooden boats there is getting less to photograph.
Took this on the way back from Freeport after Christmas shopping, The sun had gone behind the clouds and never came out again
Tried for some cloud movement 360sec, f13 at 16 on a 16-35mm + 10 stop ND & 3 stop grad
Bád Eddie - a French boat that was brought over to Ireland but is now left stranded in Bun Beg. Photographed here with Mount Errigal in the background.
Taken on the donegalphotowalk2014.

The boat had been abandoned for some years but has boards and barbed wire to stop people trying to get on to it.

This is probably better known as the wreck from the opening credits of Father Ted.

An old car wreck lies abandoned in the Northern Flinders Ranges.
This was the first composition I took on my trip past Stranraer last week. It was a similar area to where I shot in 2006, but I took more time over it.
I'd been there since before dawn - conditions were odd, it was basically foggy, with a gap where I was. Which was pretty lucky!
I took a few shorter exposures that I'm still to look at, but I prefer this long exposure to them at the moment - the shorter ones are a bit 'messy' for my taste I think.
'Wrecked' refers to the shipwreck just to the left of the vertical centre-line.
Some shots now from the wrecks at Bowling Harbour.
30 seconds exposure at F18 to try and get some movement in the water.
Lighting conditions looked great but quite challenging as bright skies meant water was very bright in places so an ND grad wasn't too much use.
Got a few more of here so pleased that I managed to get here and the conditions were good.
Bumped into Billy Currie and here is an almost identical shot from the man himself:

Thanks for all the feedback on the pier shot from here.
Whilst walking on the lovely island of Kerrera in Scotland I came across this old abandoned wooden wreck which I believe is the "Wreck of the Dayspring". With its rotting hull and peeling paintwork it just beckoned to be photographed. To me it had to be in Monochrome/Black & White so as to bring out all of the feeling and detail of the wreck. Hope you like it.
