Old wreck on the river Taw Estuary, Crow Point, North Devon a Unesco Biosphere Reserve.Looking through the sand dunes that have been eroded by the storms towards Appledore,
I was on one of the aran islands (Inish Oirr) on sunday. It is a beautiful island, well worth a visit, if nothing else but for the flight over! This ship, The MV Plassy, was washed ashore sometime in the 1960's. It was on its way from Belfast to limerick when it got caught up in a storm. Some Years later a bigger storm moved the ship to where it lays now.
The tide is in so I have to wait for the water level to drop before carrying on up the coast on the bike. Ravenglass can be seen on the far bank and it is the only coastal village in the English Lake District National Park.

The Riversdale is one of several wrecks that were placed on the breakwater at Royston. This ship was a square-rigged windjammer, built in 1894, and placed on the breakwater in 1961.
This ship operated around the world as a cargo carrier for many years, eventually ending its life as log and hog-fuel barge on the west coast of Canada. I found it interesting that the ship had no propulsion except sail.

In 1947 the boat broke free from its moorings and was washed up on Hunstanton Beach Norfolk.
Berrow is a beautiful little town with a gorgeous beach situated near Burnham-on-Sea. The beach becomes really big during low tide where the water draws in a lot. After visiting the Cheddar Gorge where I could not muster up enough courage to go sit by the edge of the precipice and shoot, I decided to take the less adventurous route for my dusk shot...
I suffer from severe acrophobia that can't be quite explained in words and if you really want a good shot of the Cheddar gorge, it has to be with the horse shoe bend from the pinnacles. Though I made it almost to the edge, I quite could not pull that off! May be some other time eh?
Berrow beach is also home to the Norwegian barque SS Nornen shipwreck. I have always wanted to capture at least one of the many still very well preserved shipwrecks all along the coasts of Britain. Something about them is intriguing and if you read about them, you would be drawn to them just as I am to appreciate the courage and valour of the many men who would have lost their lives and the few who lived on to tell the tale...

The sand was really loose and you would easily be up to your knees as you approach the wreck. Wellies highly recommended as even though I had em, I ended up removing my shoes and going barefoot near the wreck. Quite an interesting evening in all...
