"Wrapped in Culture is a collaborative project that brings together ten Indigenous artists from Australia and Canada. Working over the course of three weeks in November 2017, the artists created contemporary versions of an Australian Aboriginal possum skin cloak and a Blackfoot buffalo robe. This revives two culturally distinct, yet similar, artistic traditions that were used historically for both sacred and practical purposes. The artists worked collectively to complete the pieces from start to finish, including the design, construction and implementation, while visitors were invited to join in and learn about the history of these two culturally significant textiles. The robe and cloak are also objects that hold deeper meaning related to the identities of the artists, the significance of family and place, and the importance of intercultural exchange; creating kinship and understanding through the acts of making, sharing, and teaching." oaggao.ca/wrapped-culture

Saran Wrap!

What... thought I'd say "our love"... sheesh... Not that sappy! We got this stuff from Circuit City on their last day. 4 rolls of it. We tried being wrapped a few different ways and didn't even come close to using 1 roll. Guess we'll have to try again!

Thank you Aaron for helping us with the shot and using your camera. It's kinda hard to press any buttons when you're stuck together.

The entire five car set and engine were wrapped for the 2015 ONP train. It is parked for the night at Crystal Lake, awaiting it's big day.

...only it isn't wrapping itself around a twig as usual. This one was plastered against our shed, probably enjoying the slight overhang of the eaves/gutters that protected it from all the heavy rain we have been having. It was so cool to see it against a stark background like this. HA28!

Even in person, Tokyo DisneySea is a tough park to wrap your head around. Just look at everything in this photo--from little details to major park features--and remind yourself that this is a theme park.

After giving that some thought, try to justify places like Dinorama...

Another week is done, and it's another weekend I won't be able to get out and snap any photos. This fall will be different.

On the positive side, it's supposed to rain the next couple days!

Part of my "Scanography" series. An ongoing series of images made using a scanner. Shot yesterday.

I gave my exhibition submissions in today and the people there seemed quite positive when they first saw them. Hopefully the judges will agree!

In other news, I've recently been published in an issue of Amateur Photographer Magazine. No idea what issue nor what for nor what image but I was sent an appraisal and a gift card so yay me. I checked the most recent issue and it doesnt seem to be that one. Anyone who's subscribed to AP, can you please check the issue before the latest for me to see if any of my images are in it? Would be VERY much appreciated! Or anyone who's been published in there before, do you know how long it takes for them to send prizes? (so I have a rough idea of which issue I was in or will be in)

I reached 450,000 views a few days ago so major thanks to everyone who's gotten me there! Next step, 500,000!!

The hedgehog (Erinaceinae) is a small spiny insectivorous mammal. It is almost entirely nocturnal, and feeds on ground-dwelling invetebrates including slugs and snails.

The hedgehog benefits from partial protection under the Wildlife & Countryside Act (1981).

There are seventeen species of hedgehog in five genera, found through parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa, and in New Zealand by introduction. There are no hedgehogs native to Australia, and no living species native to the Americas. Hedgehogs' spiny protection resembles that of the unrelated porcupines.

The collective noun for a group of hedgehogs is array.

The curling up is a defensive mechanism which protects their soft body from predators and curl so tight that their head and face is tucked in very tightly. In this image the hedgehog is just comfortable to be held and is not in the least alarmed.

I had so much fun on this foggy Sunday morning, fantastic compositions were everywhere. Normally I struggle in the woods but fog makes it so much easier.
