We came upon a sheep farm in our travels last Sunday. It just so happened that the owners came up the road and there we were trying to get some nice shots of their sheep. Instead of chasing us off they invited us in and gave us a very informative "tour" of their sheep! They are sheep breeders and their sheep get shipped all over the US continent and some overseas also. The sheep used in the sheep shearing photo that I shared some time ago were from this farm. What a small world we live in to be sure. On a back, gravel road in Virginia to the world! :)

Cloud-wrapped rocky peaks of the Southern Andes on the border of Argentina and Chile, in the National Park "Los Glaciares". In the center is one of the lateral tributaries of the glacier Spegazzini, flowing into its main channel. In the foreground is the upper edge of the outer wall of the glacier height of about 150 meters, breaking into the waters of lake Lago Argentino.

Another Picture Winter catch-up. Tracey wanted us to photograph something to do with a towel. This assignment didn't click for me. This house is so cold in the winter that we rush from shower to getting dressed -- very little towel time in between! So I went to the kitchen instead.

My neighbor made this basket for me a few years ago. It has built in slots for a kitchen towel. We use it to keep things like rolls, tortillas, and baked potatoes warm at the table.

We decided to get the hood wrapped on the van and really love how it turned out!

Update- this is the last photo of our van. For several reasons, we decided to sell it a few months after this was taken.

This shot and poem are for my sweet friend, Kelly Dilello-Smith who lost her little granddaughter, Molly. Though the shot was taken back in August, it feels right to illustrate the poem and offer my sadness and love:

I will wear rain today

the silvered tears of angels

spilled in sorrow

and wrapped about me like fog

a gray pall of tenderness and loss

my feet sliding through frost-laden grass

of a summer gone too soon

I will listen for the sound

of angel wings

between the rustle of falling

leaves . . .

This bee seemed to be hanging on with all he had...the rain had stopped but it was very windy. Have a great day! ;-)

It was very cold and many buses were canceled due to the snow storm, but the Peace March on the Pentagon was very well attended, nevertheless. Starting in the Lincoln Memorial, ending with a rally at the Pentagon's parking lot. The march meant many things to many people: bring the troops home, remove certain government officials, respect international laws, search for peaceful solutions to international and religious conflicts, etc. Some participants donned costumes, most carried signs prepared by organizers or home made. The most striking was probably a man pulling a flag wrapped coffin... with boots, dog tag and a picture of a fallen soldier. An admittedly smaller group of anti-protesters lined the street demonstrating that not all think alike and since we live in democracy, have a right to ...

I am so behind this year, haven't even bought all my gifts!

The ice that forms along the snow in the river looks like bubble wrap when you see it up close.

To say that we celebrate Mardi Gras every day at our house may not be entirely true, but we DO have lots of beads and trinkets for when we DO! They are quite ordinary by now, so when I made a pile for Happy Caturday, must of the cats said, "Whatever," and went their merry ways! LOL! But Callie always wants to be sure she doesn't miss out on something, and Honeysuckle was surprized to find the beads on the couch today, as I am sure she knows it is NOT Mardi Gras season!

Happy Caturday! for the theme “celebration”

What... thought I'd say "our love"... sheesh... Not that sappy! We got this stuff from Circuit City on their last day. 4 rolls of it. We tried being wrapped a few different ways and didn't even come close to using 1 roll. Guess we'll have to try again!

Thank you Aaron for helping us with the shot and using your camera. It's kinda hard to press any buttons when you're stuck together.

[Crazy Tuesday] [Bubble Wrap]

This is a night shot, taken on March 8th 2012.

It's a 30 seconds exposure toward the summit of Mount Giusalet (3.313 m), while the bitter winter's wind forced the clouds to a sort of almost circular dance around the massive body of the mountain.

Something very beautiful and poetic to witness :-) despite the cold weather and the spoiled shots due to the strong wind.

The moon at 93% provided an excellent lighting to this side of the mountain.

Mount Giusalet (also called Signal du Clèry) is part of the Ambin group, a sub-range of the Cottian Alps. Just over the Col du Mont-Cenis area.

There is probably a good horticultural reason why these trees are wrapped up as if just purchased from some bizarre tree supermarket. Or maybe it's art....

This is the first Christmas present I wrapped! I'm mailing this off to little Jasmine (it is one of those delicious cured dog bones which I think she'll really really like!) Wrapping presents is a lot of fun! Tonight, I will wrap some more doggy presents that are going to be mailed, and I can't wait.
