Radish Wrap[Mussamali].
Lots of veggies wrapped with pickled radish. It's SUPER healthy and good for you if you're on a diet. I added chicken breast, even protein!:-D

There's actually no color manipulation going on, this is what happens when the camera tries to make head or tails from trying to white balance a model in white grease paint under sodium and halogen lights.

This weekend I was in attendance at a sledding party not too far from where I grew up. One of my best friends invited me to his family's annual winter gathering and of course I showed up with my camera and none other than the nifty fifty (50mm).
Throughout the day I captured candid moments of joy, laughter, hilarity, and love. Friends and family gathered on a day when the temperature climbed no higher than +8 degrees above zero all in hopes of flying down the hill the fastest and the farthest. Never mind that early on in the festivities you could not only see your breath but that the moisture from your breath crystallized upon your eyelashes. Never mind that it was so biting cold that even the (incredibly large) roaring fire could not fight off the chill for very long.
Ah yes, winter in Minnesota; it is not for the faint of heart nor for the easily shaken. Thick skin is required and if you come without it, be prepared to add multiple layers to your wardrobe as you will most certainly need them. You betcha.
More to come from this wintry, fun-filled, bone-chilling day...
............................................................................
Towards the end of the afternoon we were in the process of gathering everyone for their annual group photo when I turned to see that gorgeous winter light casting sweet glows upon everything it touched.
Miss Brea, someone whom I call friend but in my heart is also my family, had just re-wrapped herself in hopes of fighting off the bitter cold. I nearly laughed when I saw the look on her face because it was exactly what I was hoping to get from her. She's beautiful.
If you look closely, you'll be able to see her breath rising in the frost-bitten air...
Be bold, press 'L' for ... Love
Japanese wrapped stones (also called 'Zen stones' or 'healing stones') are rocks that are wrapped in natural cane using Japanese basketry and knotting techniques. The wraps may be complicated or simple but the resulting fusion of rock and cane exudes a sense of peace, calm, and tranquility within intricacy of design.
Seen and photographed on display at Hakone Japanese Gardens in Saratoga, California.
Not your average black wrap here!

For 1 cup salad
1ripe avocado
5 oz extra firm tofu
Juice of one lime
1 tbsp chili powder (or less)
Salt, pepper
2 tbsp fresh cilantro
Just mash avocado and tofu with the rest of the ingredients until you get a spreadable texture. Season to taste.
I am not a fan of the "hippie princess" style. You know the Boomer style icon of whom I speak. But every now and then, I get sucked in - by the great color of a wrap cardigan at Target sale price, or by the unusual print and cut of a workhorse denim skirt. Then I get the garment home and realize it was designed for spinning to music I don't like. So I hack off a few feet of material, and it really tones down the "gypsy" vibe.

The flowers are inspired by the "Carnation Bouquet" peony, all made in gumpaste as are the ribbons. The cake is covered in Satin Ice fondant. These are just dummies, made for fun.
I have decided to add my logo to photos as they are making their way off of flickr but not necessarily being credited to me. I hope that this doesn't sound too precious!
There are some close ups on my website.
Now those who know me well know that I have no intention of ever getting into wedding photography unless my finances really go badly and I NEED to. That's not to say I dislike wedding photography.. in fact some people are excellent at it but its just something I dont have the patience for. This shoot was an exception (I do make exceptions :-P) because it was post-wedding and its of/for a friend :-)
The bride is a friend of mine and the hubby has become a friend too so I said I'd do some shots and shoot a "trash the dress" for em. I couldnt shoot the actual wedding because I was a bridesmaid!
Anyway, to cut it short, bride: good to work with, groom: "you want me to what? but the suns in my face" hahaha
If you have an engagement or a wedding coming up and need a photog, send me a message. I'm in a "finances bailing on me" situation (lol! After all that!)
I am such a big fan of the pencil skirt, I sometimes forget that other lines can be flattering.
