BLOL 7591 bringing half loaded NS grain hoppers from Cullom, IL into the small farm town of Charlotte, IL. This train only gets half loaded due to this section of 75lb rail that won’t support a fully loaded grain train. This train will then finish loading in Sibley, IL before reaching its destination of interchange back to the NS in Gibson City.

A close-up of the packaged Hermes. I have used this plaster cast copy of the head of the Olympian Hermes for many years as my photographic punching ball. Before that, and for decades, students of drawing have used (and abused) this sculpture. I am in all likelihood continuing the abuse. I have wrapped the image of God. Keeping him warm and alive under a protective aluminium foil? Hiding or even denying his presence? Manipulating, packaging and turning him into a commodity, into a creation of mine? Alternatively, did he die, or even, choose to hide? Coming again like a thief in the night when I won't expect it? Is he closer to me than my jugular? Is the wrapping for my own protection? This is the punching ball, and its reach is not limited to photography.
I saw 'wrapping up' because this is from the last evening we spent in the mountains. I still have a few more to come :))

For anyone who follows my photostream, you might be aware I am very fortunate to be surrounded by some wonderfully artistic and creative friends. This includes my very dear friend Maria who creates some truly beautiful and amazing cards from recycled paper and cardboard.
These are just a small selection of Maria's cards I have at my disposal. Several of these have been designed for particular friends of mine, and even use pieces of Christmas wrapping that they have used to package gifts to me in Christmases past. I have sent or given these to my special friends this festive season.

For the great upcoming theme called #wrapping i decided to create more than just one attempt.
What do you think about this shot ? Even if i choosed another image the day before, i thought i share this one with you too!
The tiny little safety pin sits there alone on some glittery wrapping ribbon. Sadness fullfills him knowing he will spend the most wonderful time of the year all by himself.
Gift wrapping is the act of enclosing a gift in some sort of material. Wrapping paper is a kind of paper designed for gift wrapping. An alternative to gift wrapping is using a gift box or bag. A wrapped or boxed gift may be held closed with ribbon and topped with a decorative bow (an ornamental knot made of ribbon).
The use of wrapping paper is first documented in ancient China, where paper was invented in 2nd century BC. In the Southern Song dynasty, monetary gifts were wrapped with paper, forming an envelope known as a chih pao. The wrapped gifts were distributed by the Chinese court to government officials. In the Chinese text Thien Kung Khai Wu, Sung Ying-Hsing states that the coarsest wrapping paper is manufactured with rice straws and bamboo fiber.
