Hi Tuesday friends! Christmas is in... *counts on fingers* five sleeps!!! Aren't you all excited and impatient and happy? Today I have been wrapping presents to help Father Christmas, but it was not easy because The Cat loves wrapping paper and scotch tape, and he ran to me as soon as he heard the scissors. As if wrapping presents wasn't difficult enough! I had trouble because it is hard to cut the right size of paper and to wrap the presents in a pretty way, and the scotch tape kept stucking itself to my fur, but you know, it is also fun! Oh, I can't wait for Christmas day! My mummy and I and The Cat are wishing happy holidays to all our bear friends and their mummies and daddies!

A 10 mile ride to bring December to 238 miles and the year’s total to 6445. I lost some prime mileage collecting weeks (in May and September especially) due to medical adventures. 1155 miles down from last year!

After wrapping up my chase of GRWO it was time to start back south to home, but as I was leaving I heard Worcester yard job WX-2 call St. Albans for authority as far as MP 34 with the 2008. That could only mean one thing, that they were running down to switch out Polyvinyl Films. Having never photographed a train working this industry I figured I'd go have a look. Having never shot it before I wasn't exactly sure how, but the light worked nicely in the afternoon this time of year and I captured a few long telephoto views of them exchanging one loaded covered hopper for one empty and then starting back north as seen here rounding the curve at about MP 40.5 on the original Providence and Worcester mainline. PW 2008 and 2011 bracketed a single loaded covered hopper that they exchanged for one empty at the plant located just north of Depot Street at about MP 34.9. EMD GP38-2 2008 was built new for the railroad in Dec. 1980 and GP38-3 2011 was built as a straight GP38 in Oct. 1969 as PC 7794. Acquired from Conrail in late 1984 it and sister 2010 were rebuilt at Paducah in 1999.

As for this customer it is presently only three active along the length of the mainline between Greenwood Yard in Worcester and Valley Falls Yard in Rhode Island. As for Polyvinyl, if you've ever wrapped your sandwich or leftovers in 'Stretch-Tite' plastic wrap then you've helped support the railroad and this 3rd generation family owned company that's been in business since 1953.

As they were putting their train back together for the trip back to Scranton the nose door temporarily swung shut coinciding with a little bit of sunshine. I will call this a win.

I'm watching old 1940s Sherlock Holmes movies and wrapping Christmas gifts to keep busy and to take a break from worrying about job issues. Some running and walking here and there, but just not in the mood to doll up at the moment. So, with that in mind, here's another one from one of my favourite personal wrappings.
