would have been lovely if that sun had have came out

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"

"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."

"I don't much care where –"

"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”

~ Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland~

Where'd your sense of adventure go?

You sit at home, with dinner on a tray,

The world is outside.

Do you remember how it used to be,

At 17, I've never been the same,

Forgot my lies.

She said, we could do anything, we can do anything,

Oh oh oh oh,

Open your eyes; the world is outside your door.........

…..A nice Cornish ‘Sea Fix’ today I thought would be in order seeing as the weather is not so good a the moment in many places and a forecast of 65 - 70 MPH to hit the coast suggests some rather bigger waves are to come!!!!! Stay safe & cosy everyone. .….. Alan:-)

Wicked awesome as they would say in Beantown!!

From the DEEP website:

Another tale focuses on the potholes near the falls, which are some of the finest examples of pothole stone formations in this section of the country. Perfectly cylindrical, they range from inches to several feet in diameter and depth. These potholes were formed by stones moved downstream by the current and trapped in an eddy where the stone was spun around and around, wearing a depression in the rock. When the rock wore itself down, another would catch in the same hole and enlarge it. We know this now, but to the early settlers the potholes were a great mystery that they tried to explain with references to the supernatural. They thought that the Devil has passed by the falls, accidentally getting his tail wet. This made him so mad he burned holes in the stones with his hooves as he bounded away.

Would like to have got a bit closer to the seagull but would then have lost a lot of the waves!

Would this be called 'Stimulus generalization'? The ISO was a little of a puzzle. I'm thinking the f/mount lens had something to do with it. I sold the f/ mount lenses shortly after taking this image.

Another one from the other evening without the long exposure filters.

Would you ever hope for a new beginning?

Would you ever promise not to break?

I knew I would be lucky finding any Red-Tailed Tropicbird chicks as my arrival on Oahu was at the end of their nesting season. I did some research and found out the general area. After arriving early in the morning and scouting around I ran into a local who pointed this fluffy fella out to me. I saw one very late nester, but it was super high on a cliff face. I'll have to return during prime time in the future for the parent/chick photo opportunity.

The Norfolk Southern office car train, with its nearly-new set of F units leading (sans one of the B-units), heads west through Bedford, Ohio, during a late June evening in 2007. Back then, we figured these locomotives would be on the property for a long time, but they only lasted about a dozen years before being sold to new owners.

Would you lie with me

and just forget the world.......

How deep would you go?

The derelict Fuller's Earthworks factory, in Redhill, Surrey. Now torn down for housing I believe, this site was famous for being on every urbexer in the South-East's "have visited" list.

Shot with my Nikon D40 and a Sigma 10-20mm EX DC HSM lens, and processed in GIMP and Photoscape.

While I am impressed by the additional mask capabilities of Lightroom I would say the Sky selection masking needs some work IMHO, on every image where I have used it has left a halo when I bring the image into Photoshop for final tweaking. Oct and early November are great times of the year to capture lake mist or more technically radiation fog, this occurs because the water has absorbed and retained the suns heat as air that has been cooled by the night temperatures that is moisture laden passes over warmer water of the lake. This scene is of my favorite places to welcome the morning and take in the light show as the sun rises at least when I don’t have a camera in hand and a cup of steaming coffee instead.

I took this on Oct 23rd, 2021 with my D850 and Tamron 15-30 f2.8 G2 Lens at 30mm, 1/5s, f8 ISO 64 processed in LR, PS +Topaz ,and DXO

"The meet will be at Sherburne."

That would have been called down to me by the engineer of NYS&W train BH1 on the 4008 on this particular day. Sundays on the Utica Branch during the years with trains running on both ends would usually provide a meet somewhere in the "middle" to exchange cars traveling to and from interchanges on opposite ends of the line. During the week everything would get thrown off a "schedule" and cars were just dropped where they could be dropped and picked up later by the opposing job. However Sunday provided crews on duty around the same time due to not working on Saturdays most times and a meet was usually in the making. In this shot the the BH1 on the left has already made the moves and is is position to head south while train UT1 gets part of it's northbound cars of the "metals" track and stays in clear for the moment. Both trains will finish whatever work needs to b done at Sherburne, NY and leave the little village in peace for at least the next 24 hours.

Would I shoot this on digital? I doubt it. But on film it feels so right to me. Maybe I'm crazy, I don't know but there it is. :-)
