I should be cleaning the house, sewing in my craft room but here is the actualy workspace in the kitchen from Sunday. Working on Banji shoe pattern.
created a new work space for homework and art projects in miranda and roxy's room with some midcentury chairs i scored on craigslist this week, an old desk from the garage, and fabulous prints by my friend dana (dolphin and condor fabric). wish this was my desk!
This was called the "Seoul House". Nara Yoshitomo actually created this little shack inside the gallery made out of plywood. This was the first part of the exhibition, and he set up this little studio himself. There was punk music playing from somewhere within the room, and he decorated it with his sketches, band fliers for bands such as NOFX and Psychedelic Furs, stuffed animals, toys, photographs, etc. There was a little area littered with crushed beer cans, and the desk had packs of crumpled cigarette packs and an ashtray full of cigarette butts on it. This was one of my favorite parts of the show. There was also some art on the walls in front of the room that I couldn't get photos of, such as a big lucite or plexiglass peace sign wall hanging stuffed with little plush versions of his characters.
The photo is really poor quality. Photography wasn't allowed, so I had to sneak around the back of the little shack and stuck my camera in front of one of the little peepholes in the wood and managed to get some shots.
My new corner of the kitchen. :) Blogged here: vol25.typepad.com/vol25/2009/03/my-shiny-new-workspace.html
Here's a shot of the sewing side of my craft space. I have my lovely sewing machine and serger...and the nice big (4' x 8') stand-up height table (hubby made the table so it is a comfortable height for me to work at while standing) My fabric is stored, sorted into totes by color, on shelves under the work table.

It's clean! My desk is finally clean. :)
(This is only a partial collection of my books. There are more shelves around the room.)
.....I went a little overboard with the notes (I was bored!)......

Another picture taken with a "color accent". An iPod sock in the center - inspired by Drew www.flickr.com/photos/drewm/21100944/ . On the left side you can see Dave's great "cheat-sheets": www.ilovejackdaniels.com/cheat-sheets/ (one's missing: Java Script.).

I significantly reduced the clutter on my workspace, though right now said clutter just in different places than my workspace. No matter. This is an improvement over the alternative.
