I am leading a workshop called "The Book Artist as an explorer" and as a result I have discovered some treasures which have been hidden from view for a while.
I am now inspired to carry on with some work which has been left unfinished for some time
This is a collection of beach pottery collected on beaches in Shetland
This is the walled gardens at Holkham Hall. We got a ride on an open top bus around the grounds here. Was very windy and breezy.
The walled gardens cover six and a half acres and are divided into eight sections or rooms.
The gardens are currently being restored as part of the Walled Gardens Restoration Project, so it is mostly empty in here.
The original gardens date back to the late 1700s, and in 2010 they started to restore them to it's former glory.
2011 is the second year of the project.

Grease Alley, an industrial backwater neighborhood in a blade-runner/fifth-element genre. These shops back onto a trash and old parts-strewn gully, where the junk skiff comes by to pick up broken components, industrial leftovers, and the occasional "borrowed" part.

This is a tiny 6" deer skull I found at a shop. Covering it up with tiny tiles. Plan to give it to my father for Father's Day to put in his "man cave" where the computer is.
Tyranid Carnifex & Capillary Tower. I've not yet glued down the minature plastic tyranid terrain on the Capillary Tower base. I intend to get some greenstuff and create some ropey vines/tentacles surrounding the base of the Capillary Tower to give it a higher "ick" factor. This Capillary Tower vs the previous photo shows the addition of a spine ridge on the largest Tower, and a smaller tower without spine ridges. In progress.
mixed media collage works, in acrylic. I have been burning it up lately, and these are stages of works in progress. eventually i want to make time lapse gifs.
I belong to the exhibiting group "Adhesion" which is mentored by the wonderful Angie Hughes.
We are trying new ideas to help us free up our thinking and our current project is proving rather difficult to translate into anything concrete.
The idea is to sit for two ten minute sessions in silence, and record the noises heard, using any means you chose. One ten minute period should be in a quiet envoironment, and the other in a quiet one.
These recordings have to be translated into a visual form.
Here I have bonded silk on to a cotton background, and then I have cut the silk with scissors into similar squarish shapes and glued these on to a watercolour paper background. I have turned some of the squares round so that the light catches them in different ways.
Now I have to decide how to represent the noises I heard!
This is a large watercolour pad measuring about 18inches by 12 inches
patchwork furoshiki - made from off cuts from fabric used to make other furoshiki and display curtains - hence the metal ringed holes

It has been a few weeks since I've worked on wood. I'm glad to be back. Here is a sneak peek of what I am working as a submission to the "Lipstick & Rouge" show @ Second Space in Spokane.
