Grease Alley, an industrial backwater neighborhood in a blade-runner/fifth-element genre. These shops back onto a trash and old parts-strewn gully, where the junk skiff comes by to pick up broken components, industrial leftovers, and the occasional "borrowed" part.
After nip, nip, nipping I have the bird complete. Going to do some colorful circles with paint and clear glass and then probably finish it out with some mirror glass.
More work-in-progress shots of the first Fantimal :) Explanation here:

i want to make more coats for the girls and for dollyrockers. i figured out the pattern i used and the approximate alterations i made to it (although the collar is still too big and there is something funny about the neckline). i'm also going to use wool felt at least for some of them, and they will have various closures and decorations -- the tomato red one is plain because it's not done.

As you can see there is a lot of tedious, time-consuming work involved in gourd carving. Where it has been carved out, it has been sanded smooth by hand. Some of the gourd was carved with my dremmel and other, more intricate areas with my Xacto knife.
You can also see from this photo that I am still working on sanding and carving. :)
Will post the next progress shots either tomorrow (Easter Day) or Monday.
Have a wonderful Sunday and Happy Easter to all!
Rough Draft of a poster I'm working on to introduce a new variety of Grapefruit, any comments would be appreciated
I'm going for an "opposite" color scheme for the Canoness and her retinue... flipping black and white to sort of show their elevated spiritual status, assuming that makes sense.
This is definitely a work in progress. I'm having a lot of trouble with the shading. I decided to use blue instead of grey for shadows to give a blue color temperature to the model, but apparently I suck at shading.
