not a great photo, but a fun knitting/crochet project :-) Mitered squares with a crochet edge - almost done now!
I'm not any good at buildings, but they're not really the focal point of the eventual scene here. Respect to those who can build non-shite-looking buildings; I promise to try and silently mock you far less.
Still a lot of details and work to do yet, just wanted to show off what I've spent most of my weekend on so far. Not perfect, but satisfactory as a WIP.
Please see previous posts regarding the making of the face.
I have now coated the face with several layers of soy wax and then I padded it underneath before stitching it to the croched and knitted background.
This picture shows the extent of the moulding of the face.
Mixed media.
(snapshot directly from inworld, Caliah Lyon's windlight settings, no postwork)
Since the release of Sayuri I've been working on a softer skin again, a softer version of Eva if you will. Though I try to make my skins look "real", I find my personal preference fighting that all the way, and I want to stick to the handdrawn/pastel look.
For the interested: The bikini is from Artilleri and the hair is from Fri.day
This shows a close up of the machine stitching. I have put a layer of chiffon over the velvet which has been embellished with embossing crystals.
Some of the crystals are very thick so I avoided stitching over them.
I will now burn away the chiffon with a heat gun.
These hang around the studio, getting in the way and looking more and more bedraggled.
I have taken the bull by the horns and made a hanging display book so that they are now all in one place and out of the way.
This is the first stage.
As I wanted the pages to be easily removable I have safety pinned these to individual pieces of dyed blanket which will act as the book hinges.
