Over 110 volunteers joined UrbanPromise on Saturday, November 17 to assist with demolition and renovation projects at St. Wilfrid's Episcopal Church in the city of Camden. Volunteers included adults, teens, and children from Ann's Love Builds of Media Presbyterian Church, FCA of South Jersey, Pedro Guzman of San Andres in Camden, the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township, and Princeton University's lacrosse team. The group gutted the church's house, painted the church, cleaned the yard and trimmed bushes, and fixed broken windows and old pews.
The house on the St. Wilfrid's property, which has been generously donated to UrbanPromise, saw 750 hours of service--which amounts to around $10,000 in work hours saved!
Ars Electronica and voestalpine Stahlwelt jointly present “blood and tears,” the latest work by Richard Kriesche (AT) and the final installment of a trilogy entitled “ästhetik des kapitals / capital & code / blood and tears.” For “capital & code” at Kunsthaus Graz in 2008, Kriesche installed a high-tech system of movable projectors that covered the interior space with graphics depicting the latest quotes from the stock exchange. The world of the financial markets (that just happened to be collapsing at the time) was thus shifted into the Kunstraum and its functional mechanisms subjected to a critical discussion. A similar system is utilized in “blood and tears.” But this time, the latest transactions involving social and cultural values are transmitted into the space of a multinational corporation. A computer program analyzes how often terms like art, capital, human rights and climate change currently occur in the internet, generates charts depicting these statistics, and projects them onto the walls of a hall voestalpine Stahlwelt uses for formal receptions.

My dear flickr friends,
it's been a while since I've last shared some pics with you ; ).
I was quite busy over the past few weeks, I was attending two german doll conventions within a month, which was super intense in work and time - but totally worth it!
My new clothes sold really well, nonetheless there was still enough for an update at my etsy store.
Some items are highly limited. I'm considering to recreate some of my bestsellers, though, so that I'm able to offer it to all ; ).
As always, thank you all so much for your support and lovely comments, I'll try my best to reply and keep you updated : ).
My dearest greetings,
Nina*

ITC to benefit from Dutch-funded junior professionals
9 February 2015
(Geneva/The Hague) – The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs today
announced that it would provide funding for two Junior Professional Officers (JPOs) to work for the International Trade Centre (ITC) in 2015, one from a development country and one from The Netherlands.
The announcement was made during a visit by ITC Executive Director Arancha González (LINK: www.intracen.org/itc/about/how-itc-works/management/execu...) to the Netherlands, where she and Lilianne Ploumen, Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, signed a memorandum of understanding on the JPO arrangement.
The JPOs will provide technical assistance, policy advice and capacity building in their roles to contribute to the economic and social development of developing countries, while gaining structured training and opportunities for professional development.
The two JPOs are the first to be funded by The Netherlands to work with ITC.
Both Dutch nationals and young professionals from least developed countries will be eligible for the new JPO positions.
‘The young professionals will bring innovative ideas and energy to ITC,’ said Ms. González. ‘In return, they will gain relevant, hands-on experience in trade and development.’
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs is happy to provide young professionals from developing countries with an opportunity to start their career with a lot of training and guidance. In the long run these JPOs will also contribute to other UN-organisations as they progress in their career.
JPOs are positions in the United Nations funded by the Member States. In the Dutch JPO program candidates are selected by the individual organisations and about 50 percent of all JPOs are candidates from development countries. As per the terms of the memorandum of understanding, selected JPOs are appointed for an initial period of 12 months, which can be extended to a maximum of three years.
i work at a beauty supply store.
i know nothing about beauty and supplies,
and i absolutely have no interest in beauty or supplies.
but i enjoy working there cos i like to smell fruity shampoos when i get bored.
i also love to act like a professional beauty supply gal.
all i do is wear all black and read out what it says on the back of the bottles.
people seem to believe i know a lot about the products.
it's fun.
So my boss hands out these little pumpkins every year for all of us in the practice to "decorate" this would be mine. I looked at this thing for a week and a half trying to figure out what to do with it then I just stuck a bunch of wax on it added some leftover denture teeth and a couple of clear blue marbles out of my alcohol torch, I think I will rip his little face off and use him again next year, or I could just pull a mold off of him and make a bunch of them!
