Now in its sixth generation as a family business, the fine Austrian glassware maker J. & L. Lobmeyr was founded in 1823 by Joseph Lobmeyr, who, from his little shop in the heart of Vienna, became Purveyor to the Imperial Court. The glasses are still mouth-blown, cut, engraved and polished by hand. As the company focuses on the contemporary interpretation of glass, it never stops cultivating its heritage, marked by the ground-breaking collaborations with legendary designers in the likes of Josef Hoffmann, Adolf Loos, Ted Muehling and Michael Anastassiades. Lobmeyr crystal can be found in museums’ collections including the MoMA New York, V&A London and the MAK in Vienna.”

Six hundred years ago, there were a group of really hard-working women in Stockholm. They were known as Roddarmadamer. Rowing madame's. For a fee, they would row people between all the different islands in Stockholm. They were very tough. And known for their coarse language. They were around up until a century ago. And now there is a new Rower Madam in town! Toya Westberg. Toya will row you across Riddarfjärden, to Långholmen for free. If you would like to, you can be part of her podcast. Toya is a former skier who started the Researcher's desk. A platform for dialogue between researchers/experts and civil society, schools, and decision-makers regarding the current climate and sustainability crisis. Oh, and be ready for some coarse language...
