And sooooo after a helluva long time away, me is back! At least in part, been so preoccupied with DIY, Home Improvements and painting, as well as just wanting to take a break from photography, I decided to take advantage of the sudden nice weather after a mild start to Spring. Went for my usual walkabout, which means wondering for miles in no particular direction in search of no particular shot and I accidently happened upon this cemetery.

I have to say, and in well meaning respects, graveyards are actually beautiful places, I do however draw the line somewhat, as I never take shots of actual grave stones identifying people, I never step over nor onto an actual gravesite and always say a quiet thank you, in respects for deceased occupier of the grave.

These flowers were at such an angle I caught the sun rays, which felt like life upon death, hence the word serenade came to mind.

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!

Today is a pink / purple day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday Group is : iridescent.

Well, well , well, it was a very difficult one for me. I had a concept but apparently

iridescence is very hard to photograph (at least for me !!). I had few iridescent items in my huge collection of stuff (yes, I’m a hoarder and we all know it by now lol) but nothing was « iridescent » enough for my taste. I was about to give up but then I saw my husband’s huge collection (yes, he is a hoarder too(but not as severe as me !!!)) of CD’s ! And bam ! I saw an iridescent ray of light in my head , glowing beautifully like there is no other iridescent source of light on this earth (FYI : I dont take any drugs !!! And since I’m on a diet : no alcohol… but maybe the low percentage of carbs is affecting my mind more than I thought …). And just like that, a new obsession was born !

So here you go: iridescent and levitating CDs…

I hope you like it !! And see you later my friends !! I wish you all a very iridescent (that is my new favorite word!!) and happy day !!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and healthy!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

The word sail, a monument to poetry, is the name of a steel sculpture by Heinrich Popp.

The sculpture stands on an open field northwest of Sotzweiler, the birthplace of the sculptor and today a district of the Saarland municipality of Tholey in the district of St. Wendel. On an elevation of about 338 metres above NHN, the sculpture represents a landmark visible from afar.

The word sail consists of two sail-shaped triangles, one of which stands on the top and which are twisted against each other. The two halves of the sail, made of stainless steel, are welded together at their highest point. At the same time, the empty space between the two steel plates also has a sail-like shape, depending on the point of view.

The monument, a gift from Heinrich Popp to his home community, was erected in 2005 after several years of planning and execution. The two steel plates were cast in the Dillinger Hütte and rolled to a thickness of 3 cm. The sculpture has a height of 13 meters and a total weight of approx. 30 tons.

The term word sail is also the name of a writing and poetry competition initiated by the artist at participating schools in Saarland.

The Thumb, Monument Valley, Navajo Tribal Park, Utah, USA.

Monument Valley natural structures were created through timeless erosion.

Stages of erosion:

Mesa - From the Spanish word for 'table' is a large rock formation that looks like a table (flat).

Butte - Is a smaller rock formation and the second stage of erosion from a mesa.

Spire - The final stage of erosion from a butte that becomes narrow and free standing.

Due to the desert climate, dormant trees are more numerous here than the alive ones.

“You’re halfway there. Not much to see in town!” The elderly lady evidently wasn’t impressed with our first port, and had given it up as a bad loss already, even though it was still only late morning and we weren’t sailing until half past four. “Oh well, we might as well take a look now that we’ve come this far,” replied the other lady as they passed one another on the huge road bridge over the marina just in front of us. It was only a fifteen minute walk into the town centre. Hardly a trek up the North Face of the Eiger really.

It’s true that Haugesund might not be the most picturesque town we’d be visiting during our time in Norway. We’d done our research, and concluded as much before booking a shore excursion to the enormous Langfossen waterfall, an outing that promised a testing uphill hike towards a viewpoint more than three hundred metres above the Åkrafjord. In truth, neither of us felt entirely committed to the trip though. An extra ten percent discount with a time limit had encouraged me to push the button, but the early start, the ninety minute coach trip either way and the prospect of bonding with some of the other passengers left us with conflicted feelings on the topic. True, the views from the top and, for me at least, the opportunity to photograph the famous waterfall appealed, but couldn’t we come back and do that ourselves another time? Ali declared that she’d much rather spend the first port day pottering about on foot, and said I could go to the waterfall on my own. So I cancelled half of the booking.

Ali said she might walk to the Rising Tides, a topical collection of coastal sculptures that lie out beyond the north of town. I looked at the map. You could pay an arm and a leg to cram yourself onto the road train and spend five minutes there before getting dragged off somewhere else, or you could spend an hour or so walking to it. And just beside the sculptures I noticed the word “fyr.” I’d photographed a few of those in Sweden last autumn. I do like a fyr you know. A further inspection revealed a rather splendid looking structure at the edge of the rocks, mounted on stilts. I could join Ali and photograph the fyr instead. I cancelled the other half of the waterfall excursion. One day we’ll return to the area and visit it on our own, without the company of a coachload of cruisers.

It was raining in Haugesund. Not heavily, but with a soft persistence of the kind where sometime later you suddenly realise you’re soaked to the skin. On went the waterproof trousers beneath the shelter of a multi-storey car park on the side of the quay, By now we’d been at sea for more than sixty hours, the last twenty-four of which had gradually become increasingly bumpy, and as we walked along the the streets of the town, the pavements seemed to roll in waves beneath our feet. It was a strange sensation that I’d only expected to last a minute or two, but it was only when we reached the edge of town and stood upon the grass that the earth fell still again. We were in a park, below the monument to Harald Fairhair, supposedly the first king of Norway, a reminder that this place was once a Viking stronghold.

Beyond the park lay a coastal area of low lying rocky skerries that spread out to sea, a foretaste of what was to come in the following few days as we made our way north towards the Arctic Circle. We could already see Kvalen Fyr in the middle distance. The rain had eased, but not entirely left us, becoming a celestial dripping tap that occasionally sprinkled into action and then stopped entirely before repeating the cycle all over again. Ali appeared to be enjoying her first day in Norway, which came as a relief. Bringing her this far north was always going to be a gamble, especially by sea.

And when we arrived in front of the little lighthouse on its pedestal, we found something unexpected - an added bonus in the form of the large pool hidden in a cleft in the rocks. You might see a lot of photographs of the waterfall we didn’t go to, and one day I intend to add some of my own to the pile, but I’m going to guess that not too many people have set up their tripods here in front of Kvalen Fyr, wiping the drips from the lens as they took their shots. It wouldn’t be the last time we’d find things that others had overlooked in their haste to get back to the ship in time for lunch. There’s always something to see if you’re prepared to make the effort.

Hotel Vancouver, West Georgia Street, downtown Vancouver. May 20, 2022.

----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)

16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Bark of a Ponderosa pine and wolf lichen in Kings Canyon National Park.

λειχήν is the ancient Greek word for lichen, while "woof" is the sound that dogs make when they bark.

As a child, I was always told that lichen indicates good air quality and that it was always on a specific side of a tree.

One of my favorite words. Smile it's Saturday. HSoS ;-)

"Feeling is deep and still; and the word that floats on the surface is as the tossing buoy, that betrays where the anchor is hidden." -- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

@ +FYB+
