Nahja, another of my favourite wolves at Wildwood, Kent.

Recently the San Francisco zoo took on three wolves. They have names and they are "David Bowie, Prince, and Jerry Garcia." They are approximately 3 years old. They are at the zoo for captive breeding. In other words they are so endangered they have too be bred in zoo's. Their scientific name is "Canis lupus baileyi, also known as the lobo."

Unfortunately, the shot is a little spoiled by the fence in the foreground.

As an asst curator at the International Wolf Center, in Ely Minnesota, it was part of our job to try and alleviate boredom. We introduced a big red plastic ball and tried to teach them soccer. Here Lakota and Lucas, brother and sister, tried to master the basics.
