Spent a day photographing the wolves at the Wolf Conservation Trust at Beenham, near Reading. Fabulous! Many thanks to all the handlers who were great.

Although the picture didn't turn out I wanted it to be here because it shows behavior I witnessed. With the teeth bared and the tail tucked.
"He said; the Cherokee believe that each of us has two wolves inside us.. A good wolf.. and a foul wolf.. or evil.. "
"And do these wolves have equal power in our lives? Or does one have power over the other?"
"That depends.. on which one you feed...."
"And... you're choosing to feed the good one, now? Though I imagine one can't truly survive without the other. If they're two halves of your soul."
"There is an arguement for that... But I have met people that have lived with nearly no dark wolf at all.. " He touches the glass to his chest. "Myself.. well.. I have made poor choices in the past.. but they were mine.. and I have no regrets.. nor do I want any before my time on this mortal coil is at an end." He nods toward you. "So, this brings us full circle.. and I am choosing to feed the white wolf over the dark .. but some people can not see to do this.. " He looks into your eyes. "She is.. out of balance.. and you know this.. " he says seriously.
"I'd like to say it couldn't get any worse, but I have just enough of a superstitious soul not to do that."
"We can try.. and then at least we know that we tried. It's all we can do."
"Now you're sounding like me. The end of the world might be nigh."
"So we eat and drink and laugh... for tomorrow..." he says, tilting his head into the candlelight.
She shakes her head at the unspoken rest of his sentence. "No," she says slowly, "not that. If we've managed to make it this far."
"Very good feeding of the white wolf..."
I took my nephews to our local museum today where we saw a film, took part in an experiment, and played at being wolves.
