And I don't mean scared in the way of, "My beastial nature is too much so I have to forever walk a lonely path". Wolverine is "piss in your pants there's a monster hiding under the bed waiting to eat me and I'm totally helpless" scared.
Whedon gets points from me for making Wolverine this kind of scared. You rarely get to see him that way. Normally he's too busy being a badass or striking the angry pose to bother showing fear.
The following is taken from John Cassaday's awesome cover artwork for an upcoming Astonishing X-Men cover. He gets all the creative points. I merely rearranged it and added perspective with well placed blurring so as to have a neat looking desktop for a few weeks. This is usually the time it takes for me to get bored with the image and move along.
"Torn", the current arc on Astonishing X-Men is slow in coming, we're talking Planetary slow(this began around 1999 and is currently on issue 25) or mountains crumbling into the sea slow, but it is not lacking in amusement. The latest Big Bad's being what I think is the new Hellfire Club featuring Xavier's evil twin sister Cassandra Nova, Danger, the classic Sebastian Shaw, the treacherous Emma Frost and several others who have chosen not named themselves yet.
It's times like these when I appreciate the graphic novel form. One complete story in your hands with only your own laziness in the way of finishing it.

*** The M10 Wolverine was a U.S. tank destroyer developed during WWII, based on the M4 chassis and equipped with a 76 mm gun. Designed for hit-and-run tactics, it excelled in ambushes but lacked protection due to its open-topped turret.
This model is my personal interpretation of the vehicle.
Westbound Amtrak train #353, the "Wolverine" is seen coming off the former Michigan Central at Porter, Indiana on December 4th, 2021 at 3:10 pm with IDTX 4603 and 5 cars. View looks N/N/W from the Jackson Blvd. crossing. Porter tower was at left. The west leg of the EJ&E wye would have come across where the gate is.

(I've been sorting some more of my toys & collectibles and recently came across a BUNCH of my X-Men stuff...I'm currently working on taking pics of my favorites.)
The Wolverine is the newest addition to the OFSI's Mustelidae Class. Fitted with the strongest mechanics available, the Wolverine has proven to be extremely reliable and nearly indestructible. While less technologically equipped than the Weasel LSV, the Wolverine is cheaper to produce. This collection of powerful attributes have resulted in it becoming to go-to truck for most combat situations.

Past midnight this wonderful wolverine showed up at the hide in the swap in Boreal Wildlife Centre. By the looks of him he had been in the wars, his ear was hanging off - almost like it had been degloved - and he was sporting an injury to the back leg, probably as a consequence of a run in with either a bear or wolves. Tenacious animals!
MOC: Wolverine SS. I wanted to try to build a mudguard for the rear wheels, and the end result isn't too shabby, I guess.
This is a really good example of something going way overboard.
This shot started with a day trip to Universal City Walk in LA with my buddy who was home visiting. In front of the Harley-Davidson store there is a stationary motorcycle. The conversation went something like this: "Hey jump on that bike and give me your camera....we could have a lot of fun with this in photoshop."
As I finished up my first version of this shot, I realized that it reminded me of something out of X-men. Thats when it hit me that X-Men Origins: Wolverine opens this Friday. Sweet! So thats when I slipped in the Wolverine imagery and logo. So here is my plug for the movie...I call it Wolverine Origins: Remix.

Side View US 3 inch Gun Motor Carriage M10 Wolverine
(Tank Destroyer)
Initial Production 1943
Combat Weight 33 tons
In the search for a swift, agile tank destroyer, the US Army designed the M10 Gun Carriage. For a main gun the Army selected the 3 inch M7 gun, a light weight, high velocity, ant-aircraft gun with a semi-automatic breech and a rapid rate of fire. The 3 inch gun was extremely accurate and could penetrate 4 inches of hardened steel from 1000 yards. For antiaircraft defense, a .50 caliber machine gun was mounted at the rear of the open-topped turret. With its twin diesel engines, the M10 was relatively quiet, earning it the nickname “the whispering death” from the Germans. On fronts where German tanks were scarce, the M10 was used for indirect artillery support. Crewed by 5 men, the M10 had a maximum speed of 30 mph and a cruising range of approximately 200 miles. This vehicle was donated to the museum by the Italian army, who bought the M10s from the US after World War II. The collar on the gun tube is a counter weight to compensate for the shortening of the gun tube by the Italian army.

We're back from ten or so days in Glacier and Waterton National Parks. One day as we were walking along the highline trail everyone--marmots, pikas, and richardson's and golden mantled ground squirrels--erupted into frantic alarm calls. Finally Mrs. Orca spotted this ferocious thirty-pound weasel, who was the cause of their alarm. I've had so little expectation of ever seeing one of these that I knew almost nothing about them before this trip. However, there was a recent study of them in the park that has been turned into a book by Douglas Chadwick, "The Wolverine Way." It's got some pretty interesting information. For example, one wolverine with a GPS collar was tracked in January--the dead of winter--climbing almost 5000 vertical feet of snowbound mountain-face to summit Glacier's tallest mountain in only ninety minutes. Another surprising discovery was that wolverines are raised by their mothers, but later also spend some time traveling with their fathers after they grow up. Another incredible fact is that there is still some legal trapping of these animals, despite them being one of the rarest in the Lower Forty-Eight (you're better than that, Montana). Anyway, both the sight of and reading about this animal put quite a charge into us. Wolverine along the Highline Trail, Glacier National Park, Montana.
